So, apparently the scribe doesn't like me (Sunspear Rank 7)

My friend brought to my attention that the Scribe had made a topic about people hitting Rank 8, which confused the hell out of me because I was pretty damn sure that Rank 8 wasn't possible. So she gave me the link to the newest scribe (http://www.guildwars.com/community/t...ibe-060928.php) and I saw and called her a dumbass and informed her that it was Rank 7. But, then she asks me why I wasn't on there (since I had achieved it too) and I have no real answer for that, so... since I'm bored and slightly annoyed right now, here's a small photojournal of my Rank 7 during the preview weekend.

Just after I hit Rank 6. 1k'ish points and climbing. On my laptop right now.
My "1337" points. Literally. I didn't even mean to get that screenie, I was just looking at my points and went "HAH! Screenie time." Still on lappy.
Just hit level 20. Took me long enough, eh? Last screenie on the lappy.
Right before I got my Rank 7... just about to zone out to get it.
Right after I finished killing off the last Skale necessary to get 5k points. Extremely happy and dancing around.
Showing off my high level henchies, ecto, rank, and armor.
/Dancing in Sunspear Great Hall. Showing off my rank and level to newbs and just having fun. Other than the crappy dance, that is.
Last picture I took of the night. This is after I dyed my armor (again) to be pink and then I was chillin out in Kamadan for a while.

The information that The Scribe wrote about was provided via a scroll that we transcribed from the database. (Scribie doesn't work with databases, as you might imagine!) All figures should be accurate, but it's possible that someone was missed, I guess.

You can write to him directly: [email protected] and I'm sure he'll be happy to see if the information got lost in a fold of that scroll. He would most likely be able to make an amendment to the scroll archives, if the information is in keeping with the other recognitions.

I've just gotta ask after looking at your last picture of the night. Why the hell would you play for 50+ hours over the course of a little more than 2 days, did you not actually sleep? This is not intended as a flame, I'm just curious why you would punish your body like that. I'm also curious how you managed to get ecto????

Maybe he left the game on while he was afk?

Rare Material Trader. It's not like there was anything particularly spectacular to blow money on during the WPE- I ended up donating my weekend's savings to someone trying to dye their Sunspear armor black.

Even more curious is the fact that there are only 48 hours in 2 days. He managed to squeeze 10 hours and 6 minutes into them. Good job, you must be God!

Considering the preview started on Friday and didn't end til Monday there were more than 3 days worth of time to play .... Over 72 hours, but the fact that he played a majority of that is nigh insanity.

But grats to him on rank 7. I myself only bothered getting the 1k rank, having to sleep and go to work cut into my play time.

Edit:

Of course after I check to see if anyone else replied before I post it happens anyway, at the same time.

Actually, I went to sleep from Saturday to Sunday (didn't sleep Friday night, was too busy hitting level 20). I played the whole day Friday, since I took the day off of work to play, but I was mostly dicking around until later that night when I decided to hit level 20 and rank 7. Then, on sunday we went Dirt Bike riding for most of the day, so I really only played for like... those 50 hours, which was most of friday and saturday. Had to work monday, so that day was out. But yeah, my body still hasn't recovered from that weekend. I need to remember to not do something like that again for a while.

cant see the problem, do you really need your name on a webpage to make you happy, i handed out god knows how much gold and items as well as helping people get black dye but i didnt feel the need to make sure i was in a district that i knew i'd be noticed in.
the whole generosity of the event with no access to storage reminded me of how good the game was when i first started all that time ago.

Ecto?!!! Where the heck did you get ecto during the PvE event? I did not think it was possible. What creature dopped it?

According to guildwiki, rank 8 exists. It is called sunspear legend and requires 10K points. Also, maxed titles have a track completely filled in purple. R7 sunspear is not. Haven't you checked your title when you got it or did ANET add that after the event? But in this case how would the guys from guildwiki know about that?

In case you missed it, the guy has the marshall rank(same as everybody else listed in the scribe) which is apparently as high as you could get in the preview event. Maybe there was another source for Wiki's information, such as Anet articles in some magazine or something.

Once you reach Rank 7 it tells you what you need to do to achieve the next rank. That's how they know there is an 8th rank.

Congratulations on your title^^.

There's a thread somewhere in the Nightfall forums that is gathering a group together to rush through nightfall. The proposal was to finish it non-stop... depending how long that takes, I dont think they're gonna get much sleep.

Yes, I know it exists... I just meant it was physically impossible to obtain during the PvE preview, since once you got past 5k the people wouldn't give you the enchants anymore.

Okay, how about you go out... do something that can only possibly be obtained in about 3 1/2 days, and once you do it... its going to be deleted and the only way you will possibly have any proof that it was done, is to have your name up somewhere online. Then, have it published by the company with all the people that hit that thing, and have your name missing after you went crazy trying to get that all done in 3 days. Now tell me how you feel.

For those who like to get mentioned on the scribe, i suggest you do the following:

1) email spam the scribe and try to get his ingame name.

2) Pm/email spam him/her each time you donate items/gold or wish to brag.

Perhaps the scribe would start a "The Blacklist of Bastards" perhaps then players would play would be inclined to play nicer to each other? Not like its gonna happen though.

Characters were reset, so you start from the level 1 Sunspear rank.

Sorry you didn't get in the scribe. That sucks that you were left out.

Edit: For those of you who are insinuating that he is selfish: Xela spent time helping other people level and get their points, as well as giving away money and items.

You took off from work to play a game? And to top it off, you sat in front of a computer screen for an entire day? You need some serious help.

You ran the risk of making your body sick for the sake of obtaining a title in a game that you knew was going to be deleted anyway. It's no accomplishment at all. You lose, good day sir.

It's not the fact that he played the whole day. It's the fact that he skipped out of work so he could sit there for an entire day in front of a computer screen, which is very unhealthy. As the OP stated himself, he was feeling the effects of doing so afterward. And he did all of this for what? For something that was going to be deleted the next day. I'm sorry, but if that's something you aspire to, then you need to check your priorities.

After all your flaming him on an internet board. Something quite a lot of people out there would consider downright unhealthy and nerdy.

Where's the flame? There was no malice at all in my post. Just cold, hard facts. Take it or leave it.

Only reason he stopped was because the event was over. Basically, he had a binge of Guild Wars, which is common amongst addicts who delve into a myriad of unhealthy practices.

I'm done with this nonsense anyway. You guys can side with him or do whatever makes you feel happy. I made my point.

I remember when the local TV channel chose to run a weekend marathon of Godzilla Movies. WOW what a fun weekend I had sitting in front of the TV and watching Godzilla. I even skipped a day of work for it. Sometimes in a rare instance you just need a bit of harmless self-indulgence to make life interesting.

Congrats to the OP for some simple harmless self indulgence.

Dude, realize that what you're doing here, acting all high and mighty, in an INTERNET Forum is in no way better. It's even worse as you seem to have completely lost touch with reality or else you'd see how nerdy your attitude really is.

Hey, wait a minute! Since when is taking a day off work to do something you enjoy bad in any way? People do it all the time! That's like saying you don't master...., er umm, ya know, play with yerself. It's a guilty pleasure that everyone does, but only the brave admit it.

Ya know, playing hookie.

You forgot yourself and Kais. Trolls that try to make themself look better at the expense of others.

I've been at Wacken. I felt almost dead afterwards. It rocked. No one complained or told me to get a life. And i can assure you, Wacken was a lot more hazardous to my health than playing a day of GuildWars could ever be. Now put you and your lousy horde of trolls back onto track for reality. If you want to go on a fricking "thou shall be changed!" crusade do it in real-life. If you dare.
Please, be one of those funny "Jesus has not given up on you" shield wielders at Wacken. But i somehow doubt your courage to make fun of others for doing something hazardous would stand a mere second.

People who participate in game-dedicated forums, simply to knock the people who play the game, are the ones who need to get a life.

Periodic dedication to having fun is healthy. My daughter recently took Friday and Monday off work so she could drive to Louisiana, go to an LSU game on Saturday, party on Sunday/Monday, and go to the Saints game on Monday night. I guess she should seek psychiatric help for all the fun she had.

irony much?

If you deleted all the posts from the general forums which were having a moan about the game, you wouldn't have a general forum. Considering the ammount of flames 'The Scribe' gets on these boards, it's fairly amusing to see people who suddenly have an opinion on a fairly meaningless inclusion.

As someone has already stated, "do you really need your name on a webpage to make you happy?" I'm not bothered that the kid took time off work, but ranting and providing a photo-casebook of his rather dubious and meaningless achievement and then have the thread explode into a flame is a bit much.

1. Game
2. Internets
3. It's reset anyway

This thread should be closed tbh.

Edited because I'm not going to reply and top the thread: Amity; 'starting the fire'? Please go and look up irony. Thanks, bye.

wow the point of the thread has been a little missed... the fact that gaile replied without slagging off the guy should tell you it was a valid complaint...

He didnt play in order to get his name listed, but the fact that those who acheived the same got recognition and he didn't is grounds to feel hard done by... perfectly justified

He enjoyed himself and no harm is done, he made an honest and fair protest about being left off a list he deserved to be on, gaile replied and said they would check records... thread done

But instead all this bad attitude, have we really been so embittered by guild wars and it's frustration factor at time that we must bite at people who don't deserve it?

Anyway my two cents, he has a right to an answer as to why he wasn't included and is justified in feeling a little hard done by, he's not sad or ill for playing so much, he had fun and obviously is still alive.

Grats on the acheivement over the weekend btw.

Actually, go read the topic. The one starting the fire were the likes of you bashing the Threadstarter for no reason. So if you don't like a flamewar, don't start one, duh.
Geez, the concept of minding your own business must be rocket science. You don't like it? Fine, i have the ultimate solution for you. It's called "Back Button". It instantly brings you away from the "omg freaks lol" that enjoy something you don't enjoy with the added bonus of not having started a Flamewar.
