Lately, I have been trying to listen to my own music while playing gw. However, when I load up gw the sound gets really scratchy and the volume has random, drastic changes. I have tried using both winamp and iTunes, but I get the problem with both. I have the gw in-game music turned all the way down. I have no problems with the sound quality of vent when I run gw.

Is this a problem I can fix easily (without buying anything) or is it a sound card issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What kind of sound card?

I know that Winamp and GW uses direct sound. They might be fighting for resources. Winamp is very rabid about resources. Even when your computer's resources is maxed, Winamp will still reserve what it needs and play continuously and uninterrupted through the the freezing of the system.

On some sound cards, this can be a problem. Try turning the GW sound quality slider down all the way to the left. Even with no sound on, this has helped quite a few people, including me.
