Hey guys, I have a Radeon x800xt and for awhile now anytime I open any kind of game that requires real use of the gpu, ie: guildwars, battlefield series, and other of those type of games, after playing for just a short period of time my computer starts beeping and does not stop until I minimize or exit the game. I do believe it is overheating and have taken the side of the computer off, but I really cant do anything with it due to the fact I cannot afford to buy a new card. I called ati and they said they would rma it assuming I still had the receipt, and of course with my luck, no longer have it any more. But on to my question, is there any way to turn off this alarm? I have been dealing with this for quite some time and everything seems to be working even though it is overheating. Just for some clarification, this is my complete setup:
MoBo: MSI 915P Combo-FR
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz
RAM: 2 GB Kingston DDR2 Ram
GPU: ATI Radeon X800XT

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Never heard of an audible alarm for video cards. Isolate your problem by stressing your CPU seperately (with SuperPI or Prime95) and seeing if that causes it instead.

take one of those cans of air and spray out the dust good from your cpu fan and case. make sure all the connections with the fans are straight and power chord to the gpu is in. the only reason i can think of that it would be beeping is if it is over heating. if you dont have dust build up and your fan connections are fine, then there might be a malfunction in your card.

That alarm usually happens with the CPU fan stops working, or goes too slow, I'd check that out if I was you

Audible alarms can be anything. They come from the motherboard when it detects a problem. It is a series of 3 beeps. They are like moris code with long and short beeps. Depending on the combo of long and short it tells you the problem. Google a list of the beeps as I don't remember them anymore. But DO NOT assume its anything untill you know.

Taking the side of the computer off just makes your computer heat up more. >_>

That is true if you sitting in a small warm room. But for most people taking the sides of your case will cool it down, as the hot air has more places to escape from.

So I have no idea how you came to that conclusion.

thoes are on boot up.... If hes using the PC for a while first, then its an ALARM (not beeps) like a siren, its the CPU fan.. I guarantee it..

Im sure if you go to msi website you will find a application for your motherboard that will monitor temps, and fan speeds so you can see if it is your cpu overheating and if the cpu fan is actually spinning at a good speed, which is most likely the cause..
