Gaile says they are updating their mailing list for a newsletter? Whatever, but yeah check that link where Gaile responded to someone getting the same email.

I got one, but it included a full-length picture of Gaile. Should I be concerned?

Yea, Anet were Complete retards and decided to send links to update your account through email. (Which we have been taught since a decade ago to NEVER trust because they are phishing attempts)
I bet they are wishing they could take it back :\
Just retype the link into your browser and dont follow it from the email.

I want to get such an email but i didn't yet. Waiting patiently...
and people, don't be afraind of phishing so much, just look carefully at the links you're going to click - the legit one will probably have "xxx.guildwars.com/xxxxxxx" or "xxx.arena.net/xxxxxxx" or "xxxx.plaync.com/xxxxxxx"

The last thing we want is to have people hitting "refresh" on their in-boxes wondering why they weren't sent a mail! So let me explain a bit:
If your account is already linked to PlayNC--for instance if you have purchased character slots or a copy of the game through PlayNC--then you already have indicated your privacy preferences and we're ok to send you the newsletter (if you indicated you wanted us to contact you--see below).
If you are not linked through PlayNC, then you should have received an email asking you to personally set those preferences through one of two links within the email. (Again, no "give us your password" and no "fill out your user name." Just click and you're good!)
If you have a PlayNC account, we have your preferences on record. However, I imagine you'll want to receive the newsletter, in which case you need to make sure your account is set to allow us to send you emails and other communication. So I suggest that you access your PlayNC account now and take a look at your personal settings while you're thinking about it.
If you have any other questions or concerns, just post 'em here and I'll be happy to get you an answer.

funny story, i lost a cd key from a game and i tried downloading some on lime wire, and there was this clever message about getting your account unbanned by typing your account info and emailing it to [email protected], silly rabbits

Well I'm already getting the City of Villains newsletters so bring on the Guild Wars!

Hmmm, so what is anet's default action if people who recieved the email chose not to click on anything at all and simply deleted the email as spam? Do they send the newsletter regardless or do they just assume you don't want it and not send it?

However, I've been asking for a sign-up process, either on our website or through PlayNC. If you can actively sign up, obviously you're on the mailing list. If you deleted the email and do not have a PlayNC account, you might wish to create one (or wait for the signup option to become available). If you have a PlayNC account, here is the process to make sure your settings are where you want them to be in order to receive the newsletter:
- Go to PlayNC
- Click “Account”
- Click “Manage”
- Under Account Management, Click “Edit Contact Info.”
- On the Account Management Page, check a box in the lower right that begins, "Want to stay ahead of the game?"

Strange - I had already setup the PlayNC account to receive newsletters etc. ("Signed up to receive newsletters, beta announcements, game trials and exclusive offers by email") but got the email anyway...

How does one change thier login email?
I have changed emails and am still logging in with my old one, I went to follow the information i found at playNC, however I don't think I have a linked account, and my manage account keeps bringing me to PlayNC.
