I play CoV, and was getting tired of it, and decided to pick up Guild Wars. I only have the Factions Campaign.
I usually like to play something along the lines of a ranged damage dealer, and team/self buffer, and I am looking for the right proffesion for me.
Any help is appreciated.

Based on both of those preferences I'd say a ritualist.

Ranger/Ritualist ftw....look up Barrage {elite} (ranger skill) + Wailing Weapon (ritualist skill). Soon to come in NightFall Warmonger's Weapon!!!
Both classes on their own are great but combining the two make for lots of fun combos. Both are also great support chracters. Dust Trap to protect casters incase anything gets past your tank, recuperation spirit for all group regen that can't be easily removed.
Necromancer/Ritualist(more energy regen) or Ritualist/Necromancer(more HP for minions)...control both spirits and the undead.
I agree with the above post, but Ritualist may seem weak unitl you unlock more skills.

I agree with the suggestions above. However, if you find yourself really enjoying the GW experience, you might want to pick up Nightfall when it's released in a few weeks. I think the Paragon would be right up your alley.

Welcome to both of you and this is my first post ....yay
Hello to all.
Hello to all.

I think u would have fun playing a minion master (necromancer) rather than elementalist because of the fact that enemies run when u cast AoE. plus minion masters are always wanted in groups so you will always be wanted.

I have to agree with October, the Paragon sounds like it's your kinda character. If you want to play a full supportive class, a healing or protection monk might be a good choice. A blood necromancer can both deal damage and play supportive, although I don't exactly find the damage output incredible so I find they work better as full supporting characters.
Besides those the Ritualist sounds like a plan, but I don't know rits, so I can't recommend them for you.

I wouls suggest for anyone new to GW to give the Ranger a try.
They are easy to understand, fun to play.. and very powerfull because of their Range damage and self protection.
Make a PvP pre-build character.. Crip-shot ranger, and go into Random Arenas for a bit.. you'll love it

Welcome!
I myself am a Cox refugee
This game is different- much different from Cox. What I find most enjoyable is not being shoe-horned into a profession. There are many, many combinations out there, and even more ways to play them. The mechanics are different as well- agro is the realm of squishys.
Take your time and enjoy the scenery=)
