how to turn in-game "Hints" on and off??

i tried to do a search, but couldnt find the info.

all my characters are 6 months old or older. when you first make a character, your in-games hints are on and it tells you how to turn them on and off. i've always instantly turned them off.

i now want to turn them back on but dont know how. i know that you can go into the options, interface tab and "check/Uncheck" the HINTS box. My HINTS box is checked in the interface option. i've tried turning it off, playing for a couple hours, and turning it back on again and i still dont get any "hints"...

i want it turned back on so i can get a "you've been farming" message.

any help to get my Hints working again?

Keep it turned on. Farm for a long time. I farmed for over an hour in the same spot and didn't get the message. The runs were 2-4 mins each.

whats the point of the farming message if i might ask? sounds kind of irrelevant to me?

Whether hints are on off doesnt matter afaik, I've turned them off and still have received the farming warning on one occassion.

to test this, i've farmed the same place for hours, i've never seen this farming message EVER in the year+ that i've been playing. i know some people farm, they get that message and either go somewhere else to farm or do missions to clear the farming code. i'd like to get this message too too let me know when to move on.

The message you're talking about only triggers when you repeatedly enter a zone and kill only a small number of enemies. I haven't done enough testing to get a solid count, but it's probably 5-7. The single time I've seen the warning was when I needed to collect Dune Burrower Jaws just outside Thirsty River.
