How is the state of the game?
INFERNO2K
Hi All,
I am an original Guild Wars player and have been away from games for quite some time. I may reinstall Guild Wars but I am curious if more people are playing Factions or the original game at the moment.
I have Factions but didn't get to play it as much due to hardware problems at release.
I hope my original characters are not deleted they were created upon original Guild Wars release day.

The state of the game, well, that is a personal thing more or less.
A lot of people are excited about Nightfall right now, there are many eliteist players, but still some helpful seeds out there. Many new skills and as a result, many new builds have come about. The game is ever changing, becoming new almost every week. Tombs is now called HA, and HA is now 6 man teams instead of 8. Minion masters can only have a maximum of 10 minions, but they have a lvl26 (or 28 with +1 death) Flesh Golem elite skill which OWNS FACE. Mesmers are still horribly overpowered and own anything in the game. Warriors have been hit with the nerf stick enough to balance them nicely out. Elementalists recently got a nice boost, but they still need a bit of buffing (nightfall seems to have brought that). Rangers are still balanced nicely, iWay has cooled down a bit, ViMway is rampant, as well as suicide eles (Starbust teams) in HA. Ranger spike took a nice hit when order of the vampire was nerfed HARDCORE, but it is still around in VERY GOOD teams.
GvG is still very dynamic, with Victory or Death (also known as VoD) now coming in @ 20mins and effecting everyone on the map. Yeh for spike teams!
Many other welcomed changes, some not so welcomed as well. It's all personal opinion though, so, gotta find your place I think. Good luck out there.
Peace,
Rahj.

Cool thanks for the detailed response. I was initially just curious to know if more people are playing factions or prophecies
Lavindathar
I play both, and although this is in no way fact, I'd say more people are on the prophecies servers than the factions servers. Both are busy however.

I am like you. I bought Prophecies the day it came out. I was then gone for 6 months and picked up Factions about a month ago, and I've been hooked in it ever since. I think the earlier poster is probably correct. There are probably more people in Prophecies, but there are quite a few in Factions as well, which is where I am mostly these days.

@Rahja the Thief: Can you expand on mesmers being horribly overpowered?

@Rahja the Thief
Please, don't ever say mesmers are overpowered. Don't ever say anything about mesmers unless it's to compliment their armor-style choice and/or dye. We prefer that ANet not notice us. That's why when our skills get nerfed, we just quietly take the hit. No spamming the boards with complaints for us.
@OP
Your characters and accomplishments are still on the server unless you deleted them. You can stop playing the game, but nothing changes on your account.
And I believe Rahja was preparing you for all the changes that have taken place since last spring.

There are many new UI and AI upgrades coming with the release of Nightfall, so you'll probably have a lot more fun with your original characters than you did before.
On the flip side, initially a lot of people are going to be playing Nightfall, so you might find the districts a tad lonely for a week or so
Bottom Line: Buy Nightfall, skip Factions if you can't afford it.

i would say the easy and hard areas of chap one are still full of players(not much happening in the jungle) in chap 1, easy and middle areas are full in factions. And the elite missions as well, last i checked. However the farout outpost towns are kinda dead
