What is the importance of using either a staff or a axe + focus.
I understand this will impact the way certain monsters behave, but what exactly changes?
Does this impact the chance of the boss dropping his weapon ?
What differences are there in monster behaviour depending on staff vs axe ?
Thanks
staff vs wand + off hand item

Besides this post, that post was probably the most random and totally unhelpful post ever made on these forums.
Skuld
How come?
The Zaishen cast clumsiness on my casters when I'm holdign a +5e sword, but not when I'm holding a wand.

Amity and Truth
Do you see something i'm not seeing, Slayer? Something worth starting a flame? Hum.
Anyways, about every enemy in Guildwars has a different combat pattern depending on the weapon you're using.
And that's why it would be too much to list the behavior of every single mob in Guildwars. Notably there are roughly 3-4 places this comes in handy. One is fighting Assassins with anticaster Hexes like Shroud of Silence. If you're using a close combat weapon they won't hex you with it. Thorn Wolves and Shiroken Assassins get a lot easier once you know this.

See above, monsters will try to use the hexes on you that cripple you the most. They use your weapon to decide what they are fighting against. Wielding a +5 Energy Sword? Shiroken Rangers will come and blind you. Wielding a Staff? Bam, shroud of silence every fricking time it is recharged.

I agree with you there amity, the AI basically choose an attack style(what spells are cast etc) on wether they think your a caster because your wielding a stave or melee because your wielding a melee weapon.
Other than that, only reason i can think of for using a stave or +5 energy melee weapon and offhand is wether u need the extra energy + other mod on the weapon or the wanding dmg. |
