Guild Wars Stock Exchange

No Clue if this idea has been brought up before but i think a Stock market would be a great way to Spend time on GW. The Stock NPC could be a Buyable Guild NPC and be in a few major Towns. Stock could rnage from Weapons like The Bow stock, Sword Stock, Staff Stock,etc. It could even be Runes or Classes. For example Lets say you have the Ranger stock, and A new really popular build for Rangers come out. Your Ranger stock would Rise from that. But then lets say a Bunch of Core skills get nerfed, then your stock would Drop.

Im Not sure on the Exact Specifics but i think it would something fun to invest all that extra gold people tend to have.

Isn't this already present in the form of the ecto market?

Im not sure. But Spreading the word around is gonna give it a higher chance of becoming a reality. If we Have A whole bunch of people saying this would be a great idea, arena net is gonna seriously consider creating it. And then we would all be happy. So leave happy Posts : D

For People who might have trouble thinking about how this would work, try thinking about the Spock Market. This would be like that but your invesments would produce actual gold for your char to use. And jsut like the real Stock market it would be affected by Game wide Events. Game wide events would be like the Massive Iway Nerf. If you had heavy Stock in Warriors, you would have lost cash becuase of the drop is use(Even though it was Slight)

Although I find better uses of the Programmer's time, I believe this can be a good change but... we already have something of the sort. I buy 1000 steel ignots for 10gold each. When an expansion comes out it becomes 40 gold each (Btw I know these are completely wrong prices). There is something of the sort, alreday, with the traders in major cities. Prices Decreases as the item's drop rate increases (such as the sup absorption...)

Yea that technicaly is part of it but a lot of this is directed towards creating a type of Tickertape. This would also be a bit more on the passive managment side of Trying your hand in Finance. Ive heard that live feeds for things tend to be heavy on the games resources so it could be around the same design as Observing. It would but interesting to see the major Stocks rise just as Major Runes like Sup Vigor shot up in Price.

If you can think of a Better way to implement this idea, by all Means Criticise this.

This could be even better if we had auction houses, or "our own small shops" that we could sell our things. It would be according to stock market prices. I really don't understand how they will put this into the game, but it sounds like an interesting idea.

Another better way would be to actually do stockmarkets for not only materials and runes, but for greens. Green prices have been moving widly lately, and if they could only make it a fair decent amount that is stable I'm pretty sure it would help. I hate coming back to Guild Wars after a 2 week vacation and realizing tons of prices have changed. Some of the Guild Wars Guru prices are out of date too, already... I just saw a spam of "WTB Ghial 5k"....Nice idea though, I'd be doing stock markets 15 hours a day if there was lol

As for your ideas, yes those were just what i was hitting at. I'd sit in my hall jsut wtaching the Stocks. Making Guesses, etc.
As i said, i have a bit of a sketchy view on what the stocks would be. Anything affected in the game could be a stock. But Imagine a Stock market Crash : D

Umm... there already is this. Its called the material/dye/runes traders.

They work on supply and demand setups almost indentical to the RL commodies markets of OJ and Pork Bellies.

Yes, as stated. we know this. But what we want is more of a Official setup for it. Like a Ticker Tape. Feel Free to Make a suggestion.

The thing is, the material trader IS a ticker taper. It works exactly along the same lines. If you think rangers are going to be popular, buy up tanned hides which are used in their armor. Warrior = iron and steel. Mesmers = silk. Eles = cloth, etc etc etc. Changing the name to something else doesn't make it any different.

I think what sniper meant was more features added to this. I don't really see it as a bad idea.

stock isn't inventory, its loans and mortgages

The idea of Treating a Guild as a Bussiness is awesome! That could be a great Stock idea! Since no other thing can reflect this(as people say the NPC's prices are stock ticker enough) then this would be great. Imagine investing, say 5k inot a guild. 2 months later, that guild is in the top 10 and you are RICH. But it could always go backwards. Just as in real life would a guild benfit from having a lot of Stock bought from them?
