Thank you NCSoft! Now I wont have to deal with the disaster I have had to face for Chp 1 and 2 from EBGames! Im cancelling my preorder and waiting till the 27th and buying directly from NCSoft!

I suspect this will be the only chapter that is available immediately in the ingame store since it is comments like the one above that will ultimately hurt retail sales. I think future chapters will only be available after a 2-week grace period or so in order to keel retail sales strong. (retail sales are needed to get press and keep a strong retail availability for the long term)

dude..if you have ever had to deal with EBGames/Gamestop and their handling of Guild Wars products you would be happy too withthe announcement. The stores in my area consistantly make it as hard as possible to ge the game. If 10 dont preorder..you will ge the game wheneve they get around to ordering it. Thats what happend to me with Chp1. With Chp2 I went to a larger store and when i went to get my game on release day...they said i wasnt in their system to recieve it. took me 2 hours or arguing back and forth with the manager and repeatedly showing him my downpayment reciept (Which showed i had paid for the game in full early) before he finally relented and called another store to get one brought over to me cause he had already given all the ones he had out accordignto him.

As for hurting retail...you can order digital downloads from other online game companies such as SOE and you dont see them having problems. I would much rather buy the digital download from NCSoft than face another fight with EBGames. Yes I could order from Amazon but with the way i work...I wouldnt be home when the ups tries to deliever it and would end up having to go to the ups office for pickup.

I doubt Ruby and others cancelling their preorder and buying digitally instead will hurt retail sales that much. I think most people prefer to have the actual physical item in their hands instead. I know that I do.

I'm with Sid Soggy...weird name..lol...its a "Box" for me. It's fancy ink covered cardboard FTW! And...they won't be offering CE online so if you desire that one, then you will still need to leave your pre-order...

That's why having family members working for electronics stores is good, some places lets employees buy certain things before release date

Was anything mentioned about Nightfall Collector's Edition?

Lord Shar, I think Gaile has already said that the CE will never be available in the online store, mainly because the basis of the CE is a lot of hands on stuff, and the store only offers the electronic version.

If I wasn't after the CE I too would be buying from the store. However since I really want that soundtrack I will have to put up with EB

After entering the Prophecies and Factions CE-keys into my account, my CE boxes never saw daylight again. I only get collector editions for the in-game items.

The online store will never hurt retail, mainly because alot of people dont have access to a credit card. Personally I like to have the actual box in my hands, online store is awesome for character slots though.

Also I agree that EB/Gamestop is extremely aggravating to deal with, bad customer service and getting asked the same 5 questions everytime you go in the store, gets old fast.
