Some rumours I heard about chapter 2?!
generik
Well, let's just say there are rumours, but the reason why I'm posting today is I find it quite disturbing if chapter 2 is indeed going to take such a direction, so I'll just put out a feeler to see what everyone else thinks.
It is said that in chapter 2...
1) Your character will be moved to the new world in a way akin to presear and postsear, which means once you've done that you will never be able to return to chapter 1 again.
2) The next maximum character level is 40.
3) Max damage weapons in chapter 1 will not be max damage in chapter 2.
4) All those 1337 people who bought FoW armor will be walking around like fools when chapter 2 comes out.
5) Basically all rare things that are in the game now will be next to worthless n chapter 2, so the only wise thing to do is to stock up on rubies and sapphires.
Right now I am just thinking of the huge grind fest ahead when chapter 2 comes out and everyone decides to start a new assasin character or something.
And what about running? Oh I can just see it now in ascalon now, "running to chapter 2 for 1 million gold per head, prepaid!" and considering the runner will have to create, ascend, and cap charge for a runner for each run before throwing that char away, perhaps they'd be perfectly justified to do just that!
And whatever happened to ANet's promise on how players can still continue to play competitively? If a newbie chap 1 guild initiates GvG and get matched with a guild full of level 40s it will so mow over them it is not even funny.
Are these rumours substantiated? I'd hate to buy chapter 2 if it means I'd never be able to play chapter 1 content again.

I really doubt that some of those rumors are true.

as someone from my guild said to me when I started chatting it up about rumors, he said to me:
'believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear.'
I have no idea where it came from, but I thouht you should read that line.

1) We haven't made any definitive statements on how C1 and C2 interactivity will occur with either existing or new characters. However, those who have both C1 and C2 will find that their characters will have access to content from both.
2) Absolutely false. We have no current plans to raise the level cap.
3) Also absolutely false. We've stated many times that players who do not buy C2 but have C1 will not be placed at a disadvantage in this way.
4) FoW armour is a visual upgrade only. There will be new armours in C2, and it will be the individual players own tastes and decisions that determine how they view the FoW armour following release.
5) Spotted the trend?
My simple advise is to ignore rumours and keep your eyes on the official website and other reputable sources (eg previews, interviews, magazine articles etc) in the coming months.

I would have to agree with Loki here because we do know a lot about chapter two for what information we have, but I believe Loki is right on all counts. And Alex Weekes himself is replying to this thread now so we will have an answer.

Oh good, because to be quite honest I am currently quite happy with the way things are
So I am really not looking forward to another "oh no! gotta grind!" fest 6 months down the road... it's just so great to be able to sit down, not think about having to attain "max level" and "max armor at the end of C2" and just enjoy the game

My own thoughts on item one is that to prevent people with millions in the bank sweeping into chapter 2 and buying every rare item in sight and thus scewing the economy. Chapter 2 currency will only buy stuff in ch2 and ch 1 gold for ch1 stuff.
I.e if ch 2 is set in Cantha then Cantha will use it's own currency. Just like US dollars and British pounds. You may be able to exchange a certain amount into Canthan gold when you first install but to allow am influx of millionaires into the game on day one would wreck it for all the new players..

Why are you listening to rumours? it's so pointless.
Anet haven't done anything wrong and ^ you seem to be taking it as fact, so many people do that on here and i wish mods would just close it because it just generates a thread full of other rumours or people getting all upset over something they don't even know is true.
Where did you get this "information"?
Oh i heard today "you can get a penguin as a pet in chapter 2, you have to throw fish at the enemy and he dives at them"
EDIT: ops should have read the rest of the thread, Good Job NCSoft guy

And anyway limiting the amount you can transfer wont work as you could transfer say ectos instead and then sell for x amount giving you the new currency.

New content... reward exp that can be gained in chapter 1 areas quite easily. New skills *must* be able to be purchased in chapter 1 areas since as you said those without chapter 2 will not be at any disadvantage. Any quest rewards could just be farmed by those in chapter 2 and sold to those without it as is my understanding about maintaining the balance.
New challenge, new experiences... same rewards?
Prehaps I'm looking at this the wrong way, but that's the way you're coming off to me.

I'm sorry but if your in an active guild and your members choose not to get chapter 2 thats just crazy.
Maybe there will be a filter so that teams with C2 characters cn never fight a tema with only C1 characters.
I don't see many people not buyng C2 if they are currently active in game, it's the cheapest PC game on release and you get hundreds of hours out of it.

I think that about 90% if the current GW players, if not more, will buy chapter 2

Re: the skills. I suspect new skills will be added to existing classes to counter the new ones. E.g detect stealth for Assasins etc.
As for smuggling stuff across the border I suspect items like ecto will be illegal to transport from one place to the other..

As for Tyria->Cantha, I expect a new ship to pop up in LA (or maybe Droknars/Port Sledge) where you simply go talk to the captain to get transported to the Ch 2 lands. Similar to the captain who takes you to the guild halls currently.

This may sound totally inane and immature to you all, as you can see I am quite new to GW, however, I purchased Ch1 partly because it came highly recommended by a friend, we now are in the same guild and play together. However, another reason I got it was that I was told in Ch2 a person could select a different race than "human" I have RPGd for close to fifteen years and have an affinity for Dwarves. I misunderstood the term "chapter". I thought it was part of a story line, part of the roleplaying and thought "chapter 2" would be playable in the game I bought...........as far as I can tell that isn't the case, as my character has reached only level 16, only gotten to Lion's Arch last night and of course hasn't ascended, so as far as I can tell I cannot create a Dwarven character.....I guess until Ch2 release.
Is this true? If so I will DEFINITELY purchase it and play. Pleas educate me.

I think it's VERY safe to say that 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are so unrealistic that I don't believe these are real rumors. I think this guy made them up. They sound more like things he wants changed than things that should be changed. These are the kind of changes that would ruin the game. A lot of people don't see the problem with raising the level cap, but that isn't happening.
But in the end, it seems to me he doesn't realize this is an expansion. Sounds like he thinks it's a sequel, which it's not.

2) The next maximum character level is 20.
3) Max damage weapons in chapter 1 will be max damage in chapter 2.
4) There was a rumor about 15k and Fow armor about make them a few better than 1.5k armor, maybe for chapter 2.
5) We still don't know what will be the rarity of rubies and sapphires in chapter 2 so you can stock them and become rich in chapter 2 or stock them and see that you had lost much money... it's 1/2

There are also lots of other "rewards" that C2 players will have that C1 players do not (this is all stuff has been confirmed):
-new professions
-new armor
-new towns, explorable areas, missions, and quests
-new arenas
-new weapon graphics/mods (I presume that any C2-only items will be unable to be traded to a C1 player)
-new skills
-"alternate forms of reward for high-level players" as Gaile mentioned once (that may not be the exact quote)

This is a forum, not a rumor mill. Thank you, especially to Alex, for showing how these ones are false. Should Anet/NCSoft feel like putting out any official information about Chapter 2, feel free to discuss then. Closed.
