The Woe Spreader is arguably the best Minion Master staff in the game; the only other staff which rivals it is Ghial's Staff, which offers +1 Death Magic (20% chance). Even so, a lot of Minion Masters prefer the Woe Spreader beacuse there is a blanket 60 health increase, as opposed to the Death Magic bonus which Ghial's staff would give once for every 5 spells you cast. The preference a lot of Minion Master's take towards the Woe Spreader is logical; the bonus which Ghial's gives has the same 1/5 chance of landing on a skill which doesn't raise a minion, because the staff will give the bonus to ANY Death Magic skill. But the Woe Spreader ALWAYS benefits the Minion Master who wields it, as the +60 health it offers gives the Minion Master a greater advantage in small-part farming groups, such as Sorrows Furnace runs, because the Minion Master can sacrifice health while engaged in combat without having to worry as much about an enemy's attack knocking him out.
