Unlucky

Some background; I made a new character 3 days ago, an elementalist. I was going for the survivor title and started out in tyria.
I made my way to drokanrs thru missions and ascending, managed to get survivor rank1, so far so good.
Since i was anxious to get to rank 2 i started farming trolls outside of droknars.
After an amount of 23 hours spent playing my character i was finnally there, i was less then 2k exp from getting rank 2 survivor.
As i was running up to the mob that would give me thoose last 2k of exp, my character stopped moving, as did the trolls. Network error, i closed the program as fast as possible to try and get the GW servers to realise that i was no long connected and throw me out of the game to avoid a death.
I logged back into the game and typed the /deaths to see, to my great dissapointment, "You have died 1 time.".
23 hours of playing, for nothing, 586.339 exp out of the 587.500 needed for the rank 2 title.
I sent a mail to gw support about it but i dont expect that they are going to fix it, since it most likely was a "non-server realated error".
Well guess id better delete my character and start a new one *sigh*.

That's really, really tough. At least you didn't buy FoW for the guy ( like someone did, he bought fow, he died, he wanted survivor, he deleted his toon, remade, same thing, third time, he went for survivor first ^^ then bought his fow. so that's 3 fow's and 3 toons... )

heh, yeah guess there is some comfort in knowing some ppl have had worse, still, dont feel very motivated on makeing a new toon right now. But since i really want survivor i guess i ahve no other choice.

Feelin for you right now... Still, if you can do it all in three days i can suggest a three day activity that might keep you amused

i dont think you should actively try and get survivor title, just be good enough not to die in regular game play

Not dying in regular play doesnt neccessarily mean that you are a good player, a tank that does not die usually mean the monks are good, if the monks are bad and he doesnt die he is most likely a bad tank (running back and loose aggro etc) imo.
Survivor 1 you can gain by just playing good, but 2 and 3 wont work unless you activly try, its just to much playtime.
Just my 2 cents tho.

yeah i know they wont do anything, just thought it would be worth a try.
And about wasting time i honestly dont give a dam about their 15-20 minutes versus my wasted 23 hours, sure, that is selfish but im not in a mood for that argument right now.
To bad anet doesnt show any kind of goodwill when things like this happens, i know they have no reponsibility to "fix" things like this, but it would be a nice gesture.

I once had a ranger with survivor 1 and looking forward to get 2.
And I was fighting some Nagas with a boss, then suddenly my dad asked me to help him something, I was like "Okay, I'm not in any danger anyway", because at that moment nothing was attacking me.
I was away for only about 5 seconds then when I came back, 3 warriors were attacking me, so I log out as fast as I can.....but sadly, and of course, I found that I've died 1 time when I log back in.

Eh, I had a survivor mesmer with 1.2M exp taken out by a 300+ damage Deathly Swarm. It's been six months, and the elemental damage done by factions bosses hasn't been touched.

Solofarming is a pretty unsafe way to gain xp on a survivor simply because a single err7 can kill you.

Yeah, almost had that a few times, afk is a big nono.

Ouch, it feels alot worse when it isnt something you did yourself.
If you screw up and die atleast it's your own fault, but if it's something that you can't crontroll it just pisses you off.

Yes, but it's the fastest alternative. I did not plan on continue solo farming after rank 2 tho, i was going to play the rest of the game normally and complete all the missions for exp. Just wanted to make sure that i atleast got rank 2 before going to the more dangerous places (the ones with faction ele bosses ie).

What do you mean "been touched"? Factions bosses are supposed to do copious amounts of damage. It's overpowered, yes, but only because it's supposed to be.

Compaire the amount of damage elementalist bosses do compaied to warrior bosses. It's not even close. Warrior bosses just don't shred parties the same way certain bosses in factions do. Warrior bosses don't spam 300+dmg AoE attacks.

I'm fine with there being bosses worthy of fearing. But why single out bosses with skills dealing elemental damage? Does A.Net have something against eles?

Sorry about that dang....I just dont have the patience or the time to devote that much of my life to doing that. Omg it sounds really tedious and boring.

I lost my last attempt at a legendary survivor in a similar way. It happened while skill capping in one of the Kurzick areas with tons of Wardens, can't remember which one exactly. I had 5 henchies with me and I was waiting for patrols to spread out a bit before moving in. They took a while... and just when I realized nothing was moving at all anymore, the game fastforwarded to me standing in 2 Churning Earth spells after having been blasted by 2 Wardens of the Spirit and a dozen or so arrows. 1.1 Million xp, GG!

Sucks a lot, to be sure.

Well im working on my new survivor now and this time im playing the game as its supposed to be played.

Ouch, 1.1mil gotta hurt alot more, atleast i got it early.

Only because there are very few Warrior AoE skills. They do 200+ damage directed attacks.

I had the same thing happen to me, I have a Monk with 950k Xp going for Tier 3 Survivor Title and I died because of an Err7 while attempting to kill those Jades in the Crystal Desert with a few henchmen in order to get Jade Mandibles for a headpiece. The worst thing about my death was that I was trying to get the title the way it was intended to be gotten, via getting Xp rather than farming it. I completed every quest I could find and had also gained the Tier 1 Skill Hunter title, it really sucks.

That sucks, hope i wont have to feel that since im trying to do it the "legit" way with no farming this time.
