Savio: "I second that, and I'm not interested in having another speculation thread. Closed."

So threads on this site are supposed to be about things he is interested in? What an asshole. He never thought about that there might be other people that wants to speculate about it, the only thing he had to do was to keep out of that thread.

(The thread is probably in the wrong forum, and I'll probably be banned.)

No, we've already had one thread 75 pages long going round and round with people speculating on inscriptions, what they are and their implications to the economy. There is no reason to keep either of those threads open since they are both pure speculation at this point. Savio probably should have worded it as "we" are not interested in another speculation thread. We already had one that had to be heavily moderated for flaming, etc. which we chose to close because it went round and round with no productive actual discussion.

Yes, this is in the wrong forum. It needs to be either in Site Feedback or PMed to Savio or an admin.

No, Ivy. It's not the truth in this case.

I know what u mean but also he said it before that he will "deal" with any new page about incriptions at the end of the thread "Any one else worried about the new salvage option" so really he already warned us and besides theres 75 pages that u can read about inscription there.

The reason that speculation threads can be bad is that no one really has any idea what they actually are but people develope opinions of what they want them to be and can be very stubborn in their views even though they basically just made it up. This results in pointless arguing and flamming galore. It's better to just wait and see what it actually is when the game goes live than to let a bunch of people go for each other's throats over their guesses.

I have nothing against Savio at all, but that thread should have been moderated instead of just closed. I have been sending reports for 4 days on some bad flaming and trolling posts but NOTHING was done. If the problems were dealt with then it wouldnt have gone out of hand and gotten closed.

EDIT: The thread I'm talking about is the huge inscriptions thread.

It really irks me because it seems that people can get away with calling people "idiots" and saying stuff like "get the sand out of your taco" but when I call someone "ridiculous" I get warned. What exactly are the moderating policies here?

The thing is with threads is, if us moderators recive report after report in a thread every day, we don't want to have to attend to it and babysit it because you guys cannot behave.

So the best thing to do is lock it so you guys cannot missbehave in it anymore.

If you have an issue with a moderators decision on what they did to a thread, you PM them.

Sid

if i prove you are incorrect will you be willing to admit something was actually done on that?

two examples on that.

1 did you note the number of banned people during that thread?

more than the rest of the site combined .

2. did you note that suddenly the thread lost one or more full pages on the page count as multiple posts were deleted?

one mod said that more than 5 pages of posts were removed including a few of mine so i know personally it was deleted.

willing to admit that even though it was not to your standards they were doing something about it?

I admit that I was late coming into the thread but I have been following it VERY closely for 4 days now.

Now my issue is that for the past 4 days, I've been reporting one particular person who kept trolling the thread and basically every post had an outright name calling. Nothing had been done during those 4 days.

YET one of my posts calling someone's argument as "ridiculous" was deleted. So I'm left standing here scratching my head wondering what the criteria for moderating is. Calling people "idiots" and making obscene remarks about menstrual cycles is fine but calling people ridiculous isnt?

This wasnt a case of the mods not catching it, as I said, I reported the posts. So yes I can admit that there was moderation going on, but yes it was not up to my standards.

Sorry, but this IS the feedback forum.

If you can't find a mod to take up grievances with, you need to send me a PM on the board. (I respond much faster to these than e-mail).
I will deal with it.

This thread shouldn't have been started to begin with. I never recieved a PM from the OP, and it was never discussed. Calling a mod an asshole isn't going to help you at all, either. Nor will it make me even consider your opinion on the matter. (that means don't PM me. This case is closed.)

The thread was moderated, heavily, until the point where the staff concluded that we could not keep up with the amount of garbage accumulating in the thread. There is a breakpoint, believe it or not, when a thread that begins decently must be closed. That thread reached that breakpoint.

It's easy enough just to wait, anyway. Speculation is baseless and does not merit the type of attacks and "discussion" that went on there.
