He Racthoh,

I wondered the same lately, and asking a bit around I got the following answer:
- passiver prot: bonds
- active prot: normal prot monk

BTW: I met up with a guildie of yours in RA yesterday, he should've passed the greetings from me. If he forgot, whip him good :P

Ah okay, thanks for the info Makkert.

And I got the message, so the cat-o-nine-tails is still at bay.

Oh cool, there's a name for my preferred build, and it's positive as well.

Take that, you "passive" monks ^ ^

That's what i use dude, hope that gives you some idea of an active prot. Useful for stoping spikes in PvP and just plain very useful in pretty much all PvE.

Have you guys ever heard of a prot boon monk? Divine boon turns all your prot spells into healing spells as well. The advantage is that prot spells generally cast much quicker than healing skills and recharge faster. You get a heal and you get the effects of the prot spell. This is very effective.

A typical prot boon setup is like this:
Blood 10 (for Offering of blood)
Divine Favour 16
Protection 9

A few might look at the low level of prot and scoff, but in if you look at the effects of the prot spells you use, at level 9, they are quite effective.

The skills:
Divine Boon
Mend Ailment
Reversal of Fortune
Guardian
Divine Spirit
Holy Veil
Offering of Blood
Res Sig/Rebirth/Res

Other good options include signet of devotion, shielding hands and for arena, contemplation of purity and protective spirit. If I know that the mobs in the area I am at dont use a lot of hexes, then I usually take sig of devotion or shielding hands.

Basically, you maintain boon, and repeatedly cast reversal, guardian and mend ailment as needed to heal. Boon has quick recharge and costs 5 en, so its not a big deal if it gets stripped.

Hit offering when you need energy. With boon and its +2 en cost to each spell, energy management is key.

When you are getting low or really need to pump out the heals, hit divine spirit and go crazy.

Other variants use healing touch- even at a low healing attribute level, with a high divine favour and boon, its a huge self heal.
