Auction House: Ruled out for Nightfall?
Silly Warrior
Self explainatory, if Anet wanted to sell Nightfall they would have introduced Auction houses by now...right?
Remember that they introduced Titles a week before factions came out, so its definatly possible they have more up their sleeves.
I'm hoping and praying there is some trading update...its been the same now since the game came out...and its very bad.

This has been discussed a million times. There is no planned update to trading or to add an auction house.
Chilly Ress
No. No Auction House for now.

I would expect the Auction House - if implemented - to be a universal update rather than "if you buy this campaign" sortof thing.
BellyFlop
i dont think u will ever get a auction house, Guild wars will be know in the future as Spam Wars. all u see is spam, spam, spam
Mister_Smiley
I beleive Anet said Auction house possibly after Nightfall, But since they have other bigger things to worry about, i don't think we will see it till easly after the 4th campain. But i could be wrong, since i can't see the future.
Nevin
I think it'll work like the storage upgrade, Maybe around January we'll see it.
vlein
i dont see why they dont add an auction house or some sort of trading system.. since there is no cons to adding it, all I can think of are pros. I guess their idea of GW's version of the auction house is the trade chat V_V
Thallandor
Why have an auction house when very soon almost every item in the game cost less than 10K or become worthless ?
That i now believe is Anet's solution/answer to not having to spend resources to make the AH.

Airbag
That is exactly why it would be useful. If the prices would drop like you suggest they will, alot less people will be bothered shouting to sell or buy, making it nigh impossible to get your hands on something small that is already hard to get now (assuming you don't have contacts).

I also think they will add the auction house by an update but it will only be available to NF players.

You really still believe they are going to do universal game updates? Recent developments and admissions by Arenanet haven't gotten you thining otherwise yet? |

THEY NEED TO MAKE AN AUCTION HOUSE SO YOU DONT SEE THIS TYPE OF TEXT INGAME ALL FRICKEN DAY LONG!!!!
ANET should be focusing on getting people to play the game, not have people sit around all day watching thier whispers as someone would watch thier ebay account looking for bids. And it will stop the useless overfarming of items just because they are big sellers or new items. Auction house or not, finding new and improved weapons will still remain one of the top reasons to play/explore everywhere.

You guys are pretty negative on this subject.
It gets here PROBABLY after Nightfall, but it's not IMPOSSIBLE for it to come before.
It will most likely be a universal update, but if it is for nightfall only, I'll be glad they added it to nightfall of all chapters considering this one is supposed to be better PvE then even prophecies. And PvE is where most of the items come from anyway.
Honestly I believe they aren't going to let anyone know about it (not even Gaile) until they release it or shortly before. It'll be a pleasant surprise like the first Halloween.

But that doesn't apply. That means that any feature already in the game won't be changed only for one chapter (They won't buff a skill only for Factions owners, and such) - additional things like new tabs in storage are different. So I gotta defend them on that one point.
One that wants to bring up how untrustworthy Arenanet can be though can bring up the fact that their website said Materials Tab "would have no additional charge ingame or otherwise to use" and it ended up costing 50gp per character like the Items tab...It isn't like Anet profits at all from gp generated from X Agents, so this blatent going back on their words was not taken lightly...

It’s amazing how people always complain about thing’s becoming worthless and thinks that an Auction House wouldn’t have that affect. All high end items will top out at 100k if put on Auction, they are not going to raise the cap of what a toon or storage can hold. Secondly all items would be in one location and people buying things won’t buy the same thing at a higher price if there is a lower priced one.
An Auction House would benefit me greatly I wouldn’t be losing money standing around trying to sell an item.

That being said Staff members also said many moons ago that storage would be a core feature and be added on for free, but that was not the case with the release. Many people bitched about it back then when it was released that you had to have factions to get the storage upgrade.
Nothing is stopping them from doing the exact same thing when Chapter X and Auction house are ready.

Once you can salvage the inherent upgrades in weapons then all you'll need is a mod vendor to trade them.
At that point the only thing to auction will be skins and for most skins players can find their own max-damage version of whatever skin they want pretty easily.

ArenaNet need to break up the farming cartels that are permanently planted in Droknar's Forge, Lion's Arch and Kaineng Center more than they need to implement auction houses. The trick is to do it without depressing the whole economy. Maybe inscriptions/salvagable mods will work, maybe it won't. Too early to tell.
As regards trading, after a year and a half there is really no incentive to improve it. Players have adapted to the spam. If trading spam were that big a deal, GW would be haemorrhaging players. Their retail numbers show otherwise.
Not to say that they shouldn't implement a trading system, of course. Just, there are higher priority things to fix. Personally, I hope that they improve party-formation before bothering with auction houses. Unlike trading, the make up parties actually has a significant impact on the gameplay. And, no, heroes are not the answer: not when we still fundamentally cannot trust a random pickup to have sensible skillbars.

Well I know there is this little thing that you put a check in called trade channel and magicly all the spam goes away!!!! Amazing!
Ive played since beta and have adapted to the spam, turn it off...simple. I think anet has more important things to deal with for the future of this game at the moment.

Sir Skullcrasher
Simple.. to shut down all the farming and trading craps... give everyone instant 100k along with some rare gold weapons! *end sarcasm*
I don't know if Auction House will be included. The talk of auction house started year and a half ago and back than peoples were saying it's for Tyria. Later on, the rumor moved the auction house to Factions and we still got nothing yet. I have to agree with other posters, A-Net has more to worry about than putting in Auction House and better trade system at the moment.

Selling goods really is difficult... especially with the huge surplus and lack of demand. But boy, has that been beaten to death 1,000,000 times...
Abdul
Auction Hall will probably come around the same time as reconnects and the fix for the stuck in terrain glitch... :P
Ole Man Bourbon
Auction house would make selling and buying SO much easier, and prices for items would be much fairer.
