I'd like a house/apartment and weapons cabinets.

The problem with storage in the game has gotten just about ridiculous. Yes, the extra storage for materials was nice, but it doesn't really help a heck of a whole lot.

The problem is I'm a collector. I collect Green items, and if I had the space I'd have various suits of armour.

Cantha has a massive city, many parts of which are unexplorable.

Why not add an extra district and turn it into a residential area where different apartment/housing complexes are available for purchase. (forget renting, that's just not fair in this game)

Depending on how many maxed titles a player has, or fame, or both, depends on which of the more desirable locations the player is able to choose from, the more desireable, the more space available.

When buying a property the player can pay to get it furnished, but more than that, he or she can decorate it, with screenshots turned into framed pictures for example, or scalps and heads of vanquished foes.

There would be mannequins and wardrobes to house suits of armour, and weapons cabinets with labels so that prized greens or golds can be displayed and kept.

Does anyone else want something like this?

There have been a couple suggestions to have personal rooms in the guild hall which were quite similar to this.

I agree some kind of personnal area within the guild hall could be interesting.. Houses might not be the best ideas though. Though it should work just like the guild lord, you buy expansions for your 'zone'. These would have to cost a lot (similar to guild upgrades.. ranging from few plats to 150+)

This would give Roleplayers (PvE) some kind of mid achievement objective, because as of right now, the only 'Real' goal that can be achieved is the FoW armor. It could be account based so all your caracters have access to it. You could buy extra storage spaces, different visual looks for your area to improve its look.

So overall:

- One more gold sink that might interest more people than the FoW armor, cause personally I dont really plan to get it, its not that good for its price.
- More customisation for PvE players, might even improve replayability (just make it so some upgrades require collector items from various spots in the GW world)
- Brings more personnality to someone's caracter/account. Right now the only place we have to gather between friends is the guild hall, and it serves no purposes besides GvG right now. That twist would add variety to guild halls and to the world in general.

Just my 2 cents

I like a lot of what you have to say. I agree with your concept of it.

My only thoughts on making it a Guild Hall expanded area is what happens when you either switch guilds, or if you leave a guild entirely?

I would like a personal area (people can only be invited by you, or you could give out customized keys that close friends could use) that you could store things in. It could have tables, chairs, and other buyable upgrades (like NPCs) but would be significantly smaller than the guild hall.

I don't know if a-net would ever go with such a feature though, as their focus seems to be "COMBAT COMBAT COMBAT" in this game. God forbid we ever have something to do that doesn't involve clubbing some monstrosity over the head and looting it's dismembered body. Sigh.

Really good idea. Especially if you want to meet with friends who aren't in the same guild as you. You can have a private conversation and trade items in peace. Though these private residences would likely be expensive and would vary in quality. I'm a poor Tyrian Necro so I'd likely only be able to afford a small masoleum while a richer Necro would have a sizable grotto somewhere. Also, you should have the option to rent OR own. If your finances are on the rise you may not want to commit to a piece of real estate. I'd love to have a cave in the Shiverpeaks. Those Stone Summit guys are so cute!

Well I just came up with it quite fast More thoughts could be put into this, like there could be a NPC in the Guild Hall (with a boat) that can bring you to a private island assigned to every member of a guild.

=- Talk to Npc
=- See a list of the members with 'islands' or zones
=- Click on it
=- You get taken to a small island with your zone

From the 'read first' thread, which you haven't seem to have done.

Quote:
* Always use the search button before posting a new thread to see if your ideas been suggested before.
* Always check the stickied Index of Ideas to see if your idea can be found in there.
* If your idea is a slight change of another suggestion that's already been suggested, don't post a new thread on it, post it in the existing thread and continue the discussion over the general idea.
* Make sure your thread titles list your idea. Don't post threads with vague titles like "Greatest Suggestion Yet" when only in your post do you discuss your suggestion. Make sure your thread title states your idea, to keep things organized and less confusing.
* The practice of posting simple 'bumps' to threads is discouraged here, and threads seen being 'bumped' without good reason and nothing new to add, will be closed. If you are going to 'bump' a thread, do so after a reasonable amount of time, and let your 'bump' post contribute something to the thread rather than simply taking the thread up to the top of the forum.
* Do not post "A Few Ideas" threads. If you have more than one idea ---first double check with the search button and the index thread to make sure they're fresh suggestions, and create a seperate thread for each one with a relevant title.
* If you don't feel like creating a seperate thread for each suggestion you have, post all of them in the Index of Ideas thread stickied at the top of the forum.
* Of course, keep this to suggestions only. Not builds, not rants or PvP vs PvE discussions, etc. This is the suggestions forum.
* Use the Search Button and check the Index thread to make sure you're not repeating an idea.
* Do it again.
Notice how they list searching as the first thing to do, and then goes on to list it twice more.

Player housing has been suggested before, as have weapons cabinets.

It's no skin off your back if we discuss player housing here. Better here than some 1000 page thread archive made in 2002.

Maybe you could actually contribute something more substantive than the literary equivalent of "OMFG USE TEH SERCH BUTTON N0OB"

Well, that thread is full of "guidelines", which here are more like rules, that you need to follow.
Not following them will always result in a post like his, except generally they're rude, unlike his was.
Please read the stickies in the future, it saves the Moderators and Administrators the trouble of having to close, merge, or delete threads.

I would LOVE for houses or some type of personal, customizable space to be added.

Houses were always my favorite part in MMOs... decorating, having gatherings, somewhere to call home in the game. Having a house just seems to make the world more believable, like your character is actually a part of it, living in the world like the NPCs do!

Would also serve as a great gold sink and solve some storage problems! The house could have a base price depending on size then unnecessary decorations could be bought at high prices to make the space look unique.

To sort the problem of if you switch guilds it could be entirely different to a guild. My idea is that there is a seperate window for your house with access to your house and if you want to invite anybody into your hous e.g. key could be ctrl+g. Then when you enter house you see 'housekeeper' talk to him and he offers whether you would like to change house, rent a house, furnish your house etc. When you rent a house it automatically comes out of your savings in your bank so if there is none there at end of every month then you get a warning message. If you fail to comply to warning message you get evicted. If you get evicted 3 times within 4 months then you may not get a house again until another 1 month has passed.

hehe, Id be up for a house or simuliar personalisation like this.

It would add a whole new aspect to the game!. You could invite people as "guests" to visit your very own personal "Inn", with your prized armour and weapon's on display, and

whatever "Inn" upgrades you have purchased.

Within GUILDS, could be "INNS" , or "TEAM INNS" with the option of adding a 4-6 people, who are in even more personal and frequent contact then Guild Members...

It would be the entire process of expansion such as GUILD-ALLIANCES-FACTIONS, in reverse........... FACTIONS-ALLIANCES-GUILDS-TEAM INNS-INVIDIDUALS.

Divisions can be created not only in the context of greater expansion ,but in reservse for even SMALLER and personal divisions.

Personally i really dig the idea of spending time in a "1 on 3" or or even 1 on 1" meeting

When your just too buggered to play, but really feel like kickin back with some chit-chat, showing off, exchanging ideas and challengeless exploration.

LOVE IT !! .

You want houses and furniture buy Oblivian. The storage size was put there for a reason, these problems were the same problems as in Diablo2 and the programmers reasons for that decision are viable here. the storage space is there because they want us to make decisions about what to keep and what to throw away. Can you imagine how much lag would be generated by having characters with 10k+ items littering their accounts? Actually Im just 'supposing' that would create lag, but I'm 'assuming' that account information is kept by Anet to ensure hacking isnt possible.
OMG - the words 'supposing' and 'assuming' in the same sentence on an internet thread. I can feel the flames and hear the trolls already.

Oblivion sucks , whats the purpose of customisation, without another living person to witness it ?.

For me it's not about storage so much as it is the novel idea of having you own customised location.

I'm sure for cantha at least that the emperor or either faction would be glad to offer you a house for saving the world. Maybe the dwarves could give you a place in Droks in tyria. Though mainly I just want it for more storage. I'd be just as satisfied with an armour storage page at the xunlai. Or a separate xunlai page for each character (that all your characters can access) rather than all characters sharing just the one page. Though having a house seems like it would be like having a one man guildhall...

Why would it create lag?

GW appears to follow nearly every other online game in that the world is divided into shards with maybe 3000 players max in each shard. (In Guild Wars they call them districts)

At the moment up to three thousand people have access to their storage at any one time in one shard alone.

When you go to a Guild Hall it's a more limited number of people in a much smaller shard.

Really the difference between a house and a Guild Hall is the size of the map and the number of people allowed to enter, but essentially it's the exact same shard space.

Customizations to the space can be implemented exactly the same way it's implented in our character's choice of armour, etc. You get to put maybe 50 to 100 things on actual display, and the rest is just accessed like at the storage either through a housekeeper or different chests.

I really don't see the problem.

I love the idea of picking personal places that you like, a cave here or a dwarven cottage in a secluded mountain there, but of course as soon as you walk through the door, your 'house' would be in a shard on the housing/guild hall server.

OK I did say I was assuming - but Im not talking about how many people are in a given area or district - Im talking about the amount of space that your account will end up taking. Item information and graphics allocated to an account? Accounts with 10,000 items? Id have thought that that would cause some kind of surcharge on the servers.

If Im wrong Im wrong and in no way do I pretend to be an expert in these things. However, I do stand by my original comment that the storage size is limited for a reason. - Its a choice thing

Your idea about the doors in mountains to caves or cottages etc is a good roleplay idea.
