1. You will not be a hardcore PvP player (most fun aspect) because you will not have the skills from the first two games.
2. Well its not called races, but rather professions. Considering every class is human. You will not be able to choose Assassin or Ritualist from the Guild Wars: Factions expansion. Even though you don't purchase the original game you still can play with the original 6 professions as well as the 2 nightfall unique professions.
Professions you can play: Warrior, Ranger, Elementalist, Necromancer, Monk, Mesmer, Paragon, Dervish
Professions you cannot play: Assassin, Ritualist
3. You can play PvP, but you will soon realize that not many will want you on their team for Heroes Accent (6v6 battle and Guild Vs Guild battles.... these are the two most revered forms of combat). The reasons they will want you is simple. Each professions come with skills that are not available in the other chapter. So to be a very good pvper you have to be versitile and will eventually have to buy all the expansions.
Stand alone won't matter: Random Arena, Zaishen, Zaishen Elite, Team Arena (4v4)
PvE is a blast, buying only Nightfall will not hinder your PvE experience at all, but it has its setbacks when you consider PvP.

1) Your heroes (special customized allied NPCs that fight along with you) will be wimps compared to those of experienced players, because heroes can use any skill ever owned (unlocked) by any of the characters on a player's account. You won't have many such skills.

Can't wait to create my heroes :P
I've almost unlocked every skill accross Prophecies and Factions (already have all current elites)

just to let you know guild wars is not like other MMORPGs most actually consider it a CORPG. Whatever you call it, it is a game that is tactics based so if you like RTS or COFPS then this might be your style of gameplay. This doesn't mean that hardcore MMORPGers will be displeased. Its just a unique experience without the territory wars of some MMORPGs. Its has hours of gameplay and im certain that after you play it for yourself you will want to buy the other expansions.

You forgot to mention the elitism in HA , and nice avatar.
