GW.exe won't stop running

First, new here. Hi everyone.

I recently picked up Factions and started some new characters. It's great stuff. Way better than Prophecies! But when I exit the game, GW.exe keeps running in the background. It doesn't take up much memory or CPU, but enough to notice. Before I start up Guild Wars again, I need to ctrl-alt-delete to the process list and manually kill GW.exe.

Sorry if this has already been posted. I did a search and couldn't come up with anything. Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do to remedy it? It's annoying as all hell. Thanks for any help.

Try reinstalling the client.

Download the installer from Guildwars.com

Go to your Guild Wars program folder and delete the .exe file.

Then run the client installer you downloaded from Guildwars.com.
