Unconditional Armor +5 on Shields?

How about having unconditional +5 Armor on Shields as a secondary mod? It would be a nice compensation for the Received Damage nerf of late. I don't think it'd be overpowered either. Received Damage was definitely overpowered (Wammos could easily substract 4 damage from everything except lifesteal if using a -2 -2 Shield, and it's understandable that those were nerfed).

Health mods are +45 (while enchanted), +45 (while in a stance), +60 (while hexed) and +30 (unconditional).

Armor mods are only +10 (vs a type of damage). Having Armor +5 (unconditional) would be great, I think. I guess Armor +7 (vs physical) and Armor +7 (vs elemental) could also be possible.

This said, by no means a combination of both! As in: no two armor bonuses or no armor and health bonus on the same shield. Then again, shields with two health mods don't exist either as far as I know, so that shouldn't be a problem.

What do you think?

I think this is a bad idea because shields are unconditional armor. Why duplicate what is already there?

errrrrrrrrrrrrr wrong

they nerfed the 16 armor vs. all inti 16 armor vs. physical.

Your idea seems nice but I think it would be better if you could salvage shield mods, easier to make you rare skinn perfect shield.

I'm pretty sure they nerfed something for a reason, adding a counter to the nerf would be very pointless. But yeah, what the hell, /signed

You're wrong. The 16 base armor on a shield (8 if you don't meet requirements) is against all armor-affected damage. The only modifier that was switched to physical only was the damage reduction mod.

What Savio said, but although I do agree +5vs all is better then +30 so /signed

The conditional damage reduction was nerfed. It was taking damage off EVERYTHING (except Lifesteal).

For example, a -2 (in stance) -2 (while enchanted) shield would reduce ALL damage taken by 4 almost permanently for a Wammo. This included armor negating damage, spells, you name it. For example: a 41 damage Spiteful Spirit (with Awaken the Blood) would only deal 37 damage.

That was cool, but overpowered.

Now a simple +5 Armor shield mod won't change much in the grand scheme of things. It's nice to bundle it with a +5 Armor weapon mod to get an effective permanent +10 Armor. But it won't change a thing to armor negating damage. Still, if I can choose between permanently having +60 Health (+30 +30) or +10 Armor (+5 +5), I'd pick Armor. +60 Health is something you can always fall back on if you drop below 50% or are under heavy health degen.

For this to work, I think you need to make the modifier like Focii....

+5 armor, -20 health.

Otherwise, I don't see anyone, other than in very few particular situations, using any other modifier other than the +5 armor.

What I REALLY want to see is +5 energy max armor shields. They could even make the +5 energy like wands - +5 energy while health is over 50%.

It'd definitly rock as a kiting shield for my Monk, but it seems a bit overpowered to me.

How about Armor +5 (while health is above 50%)?
