Well, this is my situation: I only have 4 character slots (can't buy any more for now), I have an Elementalist, and I don't have a Monk. Since Elementalists can use Ether Prodigy (+6 energy regen) while Monks can use Power Drain (which can give them no more than 1 energy per second, so +3 energy regen), is an E/Mo better than a Mo/Me at healing in the long run?

Sure they may do about 50 less healing than Monks but, if they can spam Healing Breeze, doesn't that make them better?

No, E/Mo are not good as a primary healer. Spamming Healing Breeze is about the last strategy you'd want to use if your group is relying on you for their survival. You can, however, play an E/Mo as a support healing with Prodigy/Heal Party and other things like wards, Extinguish, etc.

There too many DF based skills like Blessed Aura etc that make it vital to choose for Monk instead of Ele.
The reason the Ele has such reserves in energy is mainly becoz hte profession is the only one having to deal with exhaustion from spells.
Ok it's possible to use an Ele for healing but the effectiveness would be drastically decreased, so a supportive role would be yourbest choice should you opt for Ele healing.

It does happen (and quite often) that necros are assigned for the healing duties (mainly in HA) coz of the soul reaping.
The numerous deaths give a kind of guarantuee for constant 'Heal Party' spamming along with Infuse Health and Healing Burst.

Never the less your best choice is a primary monk imo.

Divine Favor's boost to energy efficency, and that of Divine Boon should you play a boonprot, well outweigh the +6 regen from prod for single target healing.

Couple that with the presence of DF skills like SoD and BL, and Ele healing becomes fairly pointless.

Where Eles become powerful is HP/Extinguish spam, using Prod to power it.

Note that all this is moot if you're PvEing - for the most part, any char can outheal piddly AI mob damage.

OK, I thought so because I have never seen or even read of a healing Elementalist.
Thanks for your replies.

Why don't you just buy one slot from the online store for $10.00 if you want to play Monk and will find out the true benefit it is to play that role.Like others said E/Mo are good support roles for heal party and possibly aegis as well.

Ether Prodigy + Heal Party is the best PvE healer IMO.

Peace,
-CxE That's assuming you're running with pugs though, if you have a half decent group with a designated "tank" and casters who know what they're doing, you can usually get by healing just one person for the most part. Keep in mind also that canthan mobs tend to spike targets on occasion.

as for the topic though: divine favor itself is a must for healing, as well as the ability to use healing scalp+ runes. A 5 energy heal with higher healing and divine favor is much more efficient than a 10 energy heal from someone with neither. Heal other at 12 healing is 151hp for 10 energy and 3 recharge. Healing whisper at 16 healing 11 divine heals for 140 for 5 energy, 1 recharge. Orison heals for 99 for 5 energy, 2 recharge and can be used on self.
