New minipets - Japan exclusively

Just found this, a new batch of exclusive miniptes for Japan; for what I can understand from the site, it's linked to the Nightfall release (...?) so I'll put it in this section.

I want an oni minipet. Guess I'll have to do some trading in the international districts.

Of course, we could all be getting them as minipets. That would be awesome.

maybe in a year or two we will be getting a new GotY version, so that for a mere 40$ more we'll be getting them. And don't forget that we receive.... uh, a Grey Giant... although I'm sure eastern GW players can have it as well.

I thought that the panda mini pet was an exclusive to a team who won at some international event. I think they gave away 8 of them 1 to each on one of the top teams. I dunno and I'm too lazy to look it up. BTW I want a damn Oni mini pet. That thing is great!

Wouldn't Japan's GW characters be turning a year old around now?

Perhaps America/Europe/Korea will get this round of minipets when our characters' next birthdays roll around.

You're right about the panda, I should have made myself clear... it was one of the prizes in a Japanese PvP event.

It seems to be a special recognition of people that have to go play at the net cafes. The naga is available Oct 13-6; the oni Oct 27-Nov 9; and the yeti Nov 10-23. It sounds like some sort of raffle you have to apply for; but at the same time it sounds like they just give it to the first 30 in the cafe. Supplies are limited to 30 keys per net cafe per each mini pet. The gibberish google translation keeps talking about some sort of A4 clear file which seems to actually be the thing that comes with the mini pet key.

The two Japan exclusives I really wanted were the Island guardian and the Kanaxi minipet, those were really cool. Those were also prizes for a tournament or something.

I don't begrude the Japanese their special items, given how they're completely shut out of PvP. Much more needs to be done to stoke interest in Guild Wars in Japan. I would even encourage small Japan-Taiwan(-China) tournaments with exclusive in-game prizes as a means of priming their PvP communities for the Nightfall championships.

We can revisit the issue of allocation of exclusive items for other territories fairly once Japan (and Taiwan (and China)) starts having favor with some regularity.

Dude, those would be the best pets ever. Glint and Gwen would be awesome, dont know how they'd pull off Gaile though, unless they used her ingame ranger which wouldnt be that cool.

China, being the communist state it is, is very strict about what their citizens have access to. As such, when GW goes live in China they will have their own servers completely independant from the rest of the world. They will never interact with any of the other territories.

They should start doing weekend events that raffle off some ultra rare minipets or something. Or in addition to hats, you can get an appropiately themed minipet out of shere luck during the Mad King/Grenth & Dwayna/etc end events and make them untransferrable out of the character or account so that people can't sell them.
