Obviously people who have enough gold to buy these titles aren't newbies.
I'm thinking much of the resentment from these titles probably stems from the fact that those complaining about them simply can't afford to buy them because they are unable to acquire enough gold for them (which by the way, takes a ton of effort) and hence are jealous about those who can afford them.

Personally I had a quick go of the stand in a circle games and thought to myself "what a complete waste of time". Now I have some ridiculous "failed" or "unlucky" title I cant get rid of.
And it amazes me the little "girly giggle" kind of attitude people are getting now the games are coming back.

As for titles being all about recognition of amazing achievements, the only title I respect is the "champion" title, any other title can be easily obtained, as long as you dedicate some effort into it.
In my own opinion, titles are for giving uniqueness to your characters and making you feel good with those achievements, I honestly couldnt care less if people liked my title or not, i just like looking at it.

Technically anything about the game is a "waste of time", that's what video games are for, to waste time. But at least you get permanent titles with games of chance, so as "wastes of time" go this is one of the better ways to waste time.

Personally, I don't have much interest in this event. Sure, I'll check it out for a while with guildmates for the fun of it. But I'm more interested in the upcoming Halloween event, whenever that will be. *wishes for a decayed orr emblem collector, got almost 3,000 of them*

I can't wait! I love titles, all of them. Titles are a way to track your ingame progress without the mass leveling in other ORPGs. My only problem with the title system is that there are not MORE of them. More titles!

Wow, I I just thought of it all. Boardwalk this weekend, Nightfall release the 27th, "modest" Halloween event right after (or during). Anet has their hands full the next few weekends. Oh well, so long social life!

in my opinion, anet is saying goodbie to factions with a bang. because wether you like it or not, most of factions is gunna be a ghost town in about 9 days. and for the titles, some ppl have a lot of money and started this stupid thing and are annoyed by how they cant finish the title.

How about Festival of the Gods. You can collect something and in exchange, you can pick a mask of one of your favourite gods from the game (since the Dervish can assume the form of the gods for periods of time, this fits well). In addition, they should make special cloths you can win as well.
