BUT... these competitions usually require a "controlled enviroment" aka a dedicated server put up for the competition, so first u have to convince Anet: they must be willing to share server technology for the event

One thing that is preventing GW from being a more "competitive" game is that the only way to play is through A.Net. It is difficult to organize LAN events, fan tournaments, leagues, etc. Most of the other games at WCG such as SC, WC, and CS all have tournaments or leagues that play every week. Also, SC and WC allow replay files, which encourages players to review their games and study other players tactics, and it creates a large base of fans that like to watch the pro-players play.

I'm all for GW at WCG, but I have a feeling it won't make it for 2007 because it lacks several of these features that are important to competitive play.
