Which one should i get???
Nature's Furry
Yes i hav't offically bought the game but i have a hundred dollars and i want to know which one to get. My friend said to purchase Guild Wars instead of Guild Wars Factions. He said that the original tottaly owns but im not sure on that...so my question is...which should i buy?
*And yes im aware that Factions has two more professions and some more weapons*

And is there a way i could get items from factions in the origina if i chose it?

People can sell you items from Factions, but you can't get them as drops.

theres quite a few threads asking the same question really.. prophecies always wins hands down.. what we dont know at the moment is how good nightfall will be compared to the last 2 releases, so opinions may well change.. so just keep that in mind before spending your $$ as the nightfall release is but days away..
Maria The Princess
just get the first one.
people who think that they can have factions only without prophecies (thats what anet is sayin) are getting royally screwd. factions wasnt designed for someone who doesnt know the game well enouth already.
and you will enjoy prophecies much more then factions
[edit] not to mention that 99% of the good skills and elites (special skills) are Prophecies only

Factions tutorial in shing jea was like: We teach you everything, but you won't notice you do anything wrong untill you hit the mainland. They had signs everywhere explaining stuff, but why not let the player find it out themselves? Better way2teach imo.

Well, for 100 bucks i think u can get both...
But in order of pwnage: nr1: Prophesies, nr2: Nightfall, nr3: Factions
This doesnt imply Factions sucks, it is just less good, but thats also a personal opinion.
Prophesies has the largest content, Factions has the wider variety (no that is not contradictionary) and Nightfall will probably be a good combination between the two.
Prophesies has better content for the starter-MMORPG-player i think, because things tend to go slower. Which some people can also see as a disadvantage.

I would have to say get Prophecies and then with your other $50 you can get Nightfall next week.
Since it will be out soon, then you will find lots of people there starting the game and old players porting their characters from other chapters or making new ones.

get proph, game like a "lil-I-have-No-Life-Except-For-My-Secret-Life-In-This-Computer-Generated-World-Korean-Kid" and then by the time you get NF you will have a good idea of how GW works and will be madly in love with it.
That way you can also join all the new and old players in creating new Paragon or Dervish characters
and have a understanding the 2nd professions you would want to use with them... Cos will know the Dervish are the new GW Leets
Dervish FTW

I strongly suggest you get Prophecies.
You learn way more about the gameplay and the story from it.
Prophecies: A well made storyline (The flameseekers prophecies) and gameplay, take your time and play at your own rate through the missions and outposts, and the really wonderfull world of Tyria wich you can explore for hours. Change of landscapes, Burned land, Snowy mountains, deep jungels, seashore lands and deserts! I still play the origional GW game more then Factions just becouse of the world and story, so mutch more then Factions has to offer.
You have to experience it to know how good it really is!
Factions: far from a well made storyline (The Jade wind) that has noting to do with the Prophecies one to me (like Nightfall on the other hand will, GREAT!) Rushed missions and leveling (once on the main island you reach lvl 20 in a few hours...) Some great areas though (the Sing Jea Island, just couse of the landscape changes). The only bonus is that you get 2 new professions with it, But nothing beats the origional ones from Prophecies if you ask me. Factions is just about just that "Factions" and PVP.

Prophesies cost me €14.99, Factions €45.
Anyway, I'm one of the few people who like Factions. To be honest, I was disappointed in the way Prophesies ended, no reward, nada....

Until recent I would have surgested buying Prophecies.
Now I am getting Cathan (Factions) masters rewards on my Tyrian characters I am getting the feeling that the missions on masters give more personal reward than those in Prophecies. It can be quite annoying to do the same mission over and over again because the group(s) fail, but i'll leave those missions for later attemps and do some easier missions or just help a group getting the mission (with small posibility for masters anyway).
The main difference for me between Factions and original GW is the steeper learning curve in Factions. In Proph, you would get more skills as reward, in Factions you will have to buy them more.
And that means examining the skills and try to determine which would benefit you most.
Furtermore, Prophecies has somewhat more content and requires more time to get to level 20 (max).
If you are entirely new to this kind of game, i'd go for Prophecies.
If not, it's more a personal opinion.
When you want a real challenge, take Factions (it's like starting a game on level 10 instead of 1), if you want to learn the game in a more easy way, go for Prophecies.

Grab GW:Nightfall, no questions! Because all people come from Tyria and Cantha to Elona after week. No businesses outside Elona continent more.

I only bought Factions to get the extra Materials storage, which still isn't enough really, and wanted to complete Prophecies before touching Factions, but a little mixture of boredom and curiousity meant that I levelled my W/Mo from 12 to 20 in a day on Factions, which I thought was a bit silly compared to the original.
Basically, buy both - you'll need the storage space!

I would recommend get Prophecies first. That way once you get Night Fall if you like Guild Wars that much you can customize your heroes. If you got Night Fall first than your Heroes will be have to use default skills. Not to mention in Night Fall you will have to afford gear for yourself and your heroes. Prophecies should help you get cash flowing.

>get nightfall. just bcuz proph/factions will be pretty "empty", as it is in most areas already. (get proph/factions later.)
or
>between proph and factions. get factions. it does teach you in a more direct/quick pace, while if you get proph and play through, it tends to be "slower" w/ its teaching of the game as you get use to it. (your choice which way your comfortable w/.)
(w/ skills sets availability - factions does have proph's some exact same+duplicates(just diff icon)+new skills.)
