I am really concerned. Really concerned.
No one has reported a rise in the cost of the game, and I've not seen a rise in the cost of the game on any of the sites I normally order from.
There has been no rise in tier 1 PC games in Australia, yet Nightfall will hit the shelves at roughly $100. Yes that is right, the normal version will not be 80-90 like normal tier 1 PC games, it will be $99.95.
This is NOT the exchange rate. It is NOT inflation. It is NOT shipping. All other tier 1 games are selling for the normal $80-90. This seems to be a "special" for Nightfall.
Since EB has a monopoly on the game in Australia, we have no choice but to order the game from them, especially as a number of online stores that previously shipped to Australia are either not shipping anymore, or have made it extremely difficult to ship and undesirable to buy (like no replacement if yours goes wandering!)
NCSoft and Anet need to understand that it is cheaper for me to buy from the UK and priority post it to Australia than it is to buy from EB here, and I'm not even going to go into how much more reliable it would be to do so. This needs to be fixed. Yes, I know that game prices have been steadily rising for a number of years, but it rises across the WHOLE market, not just ONE game. All other games to be released soon will ALSO be priced in the normal range of $80-90. And don't say that it is only $10, because if you think about it, that is part of the problem. $10 is what you put down with your pre-order, if they are charging that for the pre-order package then NCSoft and Anet needs to do something about that because last I was aware, the pre-order package was given (free) to all those who placed an order for the game.

My store and others close by are advertising the normal version of the game as $99.95 on the A4 print outs they have hanging over the "preview" boxes. These same posters have the CE listed at $119.95. I'm out in the southern suburbs, I've checked the Central store, as it's only a 5 min walk from my office, and they have pretty much the same thing there - with no CE price listed.
Maybe I'll have a pleasent surprise next week, but I'm not holding my breath. Honestly I think it will be a miracle just to get next week at all.
I am surprised to hear that your stores are advertising for the normal tier 1 price as, as far as I can tell, all the city and suburban stores in Brisbane are adverstising for $99.95
Actually that gives me an idea. I know EB promise to match prices of games from other stores. One would think they would match the price from one of their own stores, so if someone could let me know the store they are purchasing from I will have them call that store to confirm, or otherwise, the cheaper price.

For myself, it has very little to do with affordability. On my salary cost isn't a problem. It's the fact that it is crystal clear to me that this is an EB problem. It is EB - not NCSoft or Anet who has increased the price. NCSoft and Anet are NOT getting a greater proportion of cash from sales in Australia. With the EB monopoly we are FORCED to pay these prices, we are FORCED to hand over extra cash to a company that has absolutely nothing to do with the game and this is what bothers me.

I just rang EB Games Toombul (where I am getting mine from) and they say it is definately going to be here on the 27th, and that the price is $89.95, collectors is $99.
So Loz I would get the city store to re-check that cause the guy at the toombul store sounded like a GW fan and said he was "all over it", and that the above mentioned prices are definately the most you should pay.

Games warehouse is letting you pre-order Nightfall - even the CE; I've bought from them before and no complaints;

I was in The Gamesmen (only in a few locations in NSW) the other day, they had copies of Prophecies and Factions, which outdid the local EB which had copies of neither.
http://www.gamesmen.com.au/shop/indexnew.htm (Search for Guild Wars they have a pretty good price for Nightfall)
Look around, other game stores in your location and around Australia might have the game for cheaper than EB. It seems that EB just have exclusivity with the pre-order packs and some EB stores were giving those out even without a pre-order.
Just looking around makes me wish I hadn't pre-ordered from EB.

I'm going to be paying $120 for the CE, possibly more. This is silly as the Factions CE was only $90 from the same store.
