People in this game are getting ruder and ruder
KurtBatz
Seriously. Every group I'm in, whenever we have a leaver, it always seems to be the monk. Almost without fail. It's as though it's a REQUIREMENT to be a jerkwad and leave half way through a mission if you're a monk.
I see people joining groups and capping, then zoning IMMEDIATELY afterwads. People who don't listen, who won't follow simple instructions like 'please wait here while I pull'. Dickheads everywhere, running around in circles around your character, showing off their pathetic rank three emotes.
One of the worst was last night, when I got invited into a Spanish Hells Precipice group, then called a 'ignorant immigrant' then kicked for saying 'hi'.
My breath is taken away by the sheer number of NASTY people who play this game. It absolutely blows my mind. Anyone else experiencing this sort of thing?
++ EDIT ++
It belongs in Sardelac so I've put it there too, but I am seriously petitioning for leavers in PVE to automatically and IMMEDIATELY be replaced with an equivalent level NPC with the same primary class. To me, that'd be like a fricking dream come true. Yanno, for when both healers decide to mysteriously disconnect twenty minutes into thunderhead, etc.

It's easy to act like a totall **** on the internet. Just don't pay attention to the people that call you names etc, I mean they don't even know you. About the leaving; yes that is getting worser and worser. There's only 1 solution for that: Take HENCH!!

I like the Penny Arcade formula to internet stupidity:
Normal Guy + Audience + Anonymity = Total Dickwad
Explains everything imo

when your surrounded by strangers, but feel at home, people will do stupid things for no real reason, it gets worse as they get bored.

lol, Cirian, that pretty much sums it up I think.
Actually having been a part of a couple of beta testing (closed) groups (not GW unfortunately) and then having continued on to play the game on release I can tell you that as the community grows you meet more jerks. You can let them ruin the game for you, or you can take comfort in the friends you have already formed. I know which one I choose. I'm not about to let an imbicile ruin my fun.

The internet is some kind of wasteland. As if some mythical bomb dropped on it and killed almost every sentient being. The remaining humans gathered in settlements (communities) and the mutants (nerds, freaks, flamers, noobs) roam the outskirts with attentionlust in their eyes.
The internet is some place where a lot of people think it's necessary to act tough and brutal. You'll see it everywhere, just show a small sign of weakness and a horde of vermin will come and devour you. Why? Doesn't matter. It's that they can devour you what counts.
If someone is down, the internet kicks him. If someone needs help, the people laugh at him. If someone is new, he gets "pwned" by everyone that can do so (like in playing a browsergame, starting it that is and within 30 minutes you have 72 people attacking and raiding you to death - and don'T forget the hate pms they send).
There is no hope for the internet, it brings out the true self of mankind. That which lies beneath all those fake morals and laws. It's the perfect example what would happen if the states broke down. Pure Anarchy. And they love it.

People in general are getting ruder and ruder... it's especially noticeable in restaurants.
But I agree people usually show their bad sides on the internet, when they are anonymous and face no reprucussions for their actions. People also often tend to be selfish, and can easily get away with that online, where they don't know the people and don't care how their actions affect them.
GW isn't any worse than any other online game though, and is actually much better than most I've played. There will still be times I have several runs in a row with jerks... but there are times I'll go weeks without any as well! Just remember not to forget all the good parties you've had too
PuGs can be terrible sometimes... just take a break and try it tomorrow or attempt the mission/quest/etc with henchies.

Most of the spanish people even dont know gw guru, or any other site like this, because they are lazy , they dont want to spend time reading guides ^^ , really I dont understand why, but I am member of a spanish guild, and believe me, every jerk that we found in our way lol. By the way they are also nice people in the spanish districts , but only a few.
I remember one time I was looking for taxi in cavalon for the deep, and one guy said to me that he will bring mr there for 3k LMAO ! I said to him no thanks, always people take me there for free, and sometimes for tips , but no for 3k. The guy just got mad and saying to me every kind of insults! and that was maybe 2 months ago, and if I dont put him into my ignore list, still he keep insulting me, what a annoying guy , and for nothing, I think he just enjoy annoying people lol, but one thing I know for sure, he will be into my ignore list forever =D .
In every game we can find people like this , I know is annoying, just ignore is the key, dont listen to them
cheers.

*sigh* it seems like someone has to toss up a thread like this once a week. It's like anytime someone has a bad day they have to come here and start ranting like it's a sign of a complete degredation of the human race or something.
As for your suggestion, it has been made MANY times, and if that was supposed to be the point of this thread, throwing up a title that makes some vague accusation of people being more rude than they used to be does little beyond show that you wish to whine because you had a bad day.

Well I left a group some 30 minutes ago and I'll tell you what happened. I needed to cap the ranger elite from the facet of nature in dragon's lair. I can easely do this with hench but a monkless pug invites me. I tell them I will help them out even to get the bonus but they should give me a minute when we come at the ranger dragon so I can cap. Guess what happened, they waited at the warrior facet but rushed in the portal when we killed the ranger facet. I warned them before though to wait a minute, but no. I zoned back, took hench and got the skill in no time.

They should change it, so the portal doesn't open until 30 seconds after you've killed the boss.

Not so much anymore.
Its not just one bad PuG monk, now is it KurtBatz? Its multiple PuGs, many different monks, and I'd be willing to bet that most of the leavers have said something to your group before they ragequit. Some "rude" comment about letting the warrior take agro or "OMG! Ele for the love of god kite!"
And since the common theme to these PuGs you play in is you, I have to ask: what are you doing to piss these guys off? How are you making their job phenominally harder than it has to be? Are you misrepresenting the groups objective when you chat spam for players (all too common ex: GLF Masters...but we're actually just trying to get through with the best team possible and have neither the intention, expierience or ability to get Masters)? What are you doing that makes monks leave your teams?
Now this post should not be taken as an endorsment for monk leavers (except when a group lies/misrepresents itself to get you into the group; when they do that then they've effectivly "broke contract" and all bets are off). There is a much better solution when one of the players in your PuG has absolutly no idea what he is doing and will not listen to instruction:
Let the noob die. Any mission can easily be completed with 6 players, most with 5. Many missions can be Mastered with 7. Mana-sinks force you to focus all your energy on them instead of the team. They hurt the team, not just you. But it becomes "your fault" when you let these players get to you. Your leaving hurts and pisses off all 7 members. Letting him go only really upsets one.
The other six members--if they're any good--know why this guy keeps dying. They can see his red bar drop like a stone as easily as you can and know that he's not kiting, self healing--managing himself in any way other than to spam offensive skills--and they know its not your fault. They know its not your job to heal just that one player. Its your job to heal all 8.
So do you job as best you can. If one player is constantly dying, the other 6 people will know why...and they won't blame you for it.
Oh a GW forum
I like taking my anger out on other people, it helps me relieve stress. It's the internet, if you're getting your feelings hurt then how are you ever gonna deal when people are jerks to you face to face?
TadaceAce
Kurt Batz is prolly a lerroy wammo and isn't telling us, I'd leave too! I use henchmen, I'm not gonna lie, I am one of these "rude" people. I've been around this game long enough that things just click and when someone has a built that defies all reason and logic it pisses me off. Pve is incredibly easy, if your build is so bad that it bothers me in pve then you should quit life. I was one of those arrogant "I'm the man" healing hands wammos with a fiery dragon sword a long time ago, I excuse that, its just when I try to give them some advice and they snap back I let hell break loose.
Amen to the guy above me too, its just fun to tear apart people online and listen to them whimper.

Worst comes to worst...use henchies/guildies/heroes
I used to love taking PuGs to try to find a few more members for the guild every month but I've turned away from this due to the trend I'm seeing with fewer members responsive to requests. I think I'll start again in NightFall and see how it goes but at least I will have heroes that follow my commands just in case. [Side note: Sometimes, henchies aren't better though. The number of times I have said, "No! Don't go rez the war in the middle of that massive mob, you stupid henchie monk! Augh....big aggro...Run Away! Run Away!!" is depressing to count.]

My most recent experience was with someone from my own alliance.
Was in a PUG group on a FoW run. Monk in the group has a familiar name and I look up the cape on our alliance sure enough the person is in my alliance.
I PM, hey, you are in ______, you are in my alliance.
Monk: Silence
I make a couple of more attempts to speak to the person, met by silence.
I finally announce to the group that the monk is in my alliance but is not speaking and therefore monks in their guild must be under a vow of silence. And this is met by, guess what, silence. I was hoping a smartass remark would get some kind of response.
I come to realize that this monk has not said a word during the whole time with this rather chatty group. Heals, rezs, stays out of trouble, but never responds or says a word.
It was all very bizzare.

I mean: it's not directed against the OP: I don't know what happened and he may just have been incredibly unlucky. It also depends on where you're playing: nomatter what you can do, there are almsot always leavers / leechers in Aspenwood for example. However for me most of the people having this kind of problem fall in the same category than the players blaming PUGs for being always incompetant and unable to complete missions, etc.
I remember this guy who posted a topic about FoW and how he couldn't make it to the forgemaster with a PuG, after have attempted during 2 months. When I go to FoW (if we decide to do the forgemaster quests), we make it maybe 9 times out of 10. If you notice your team mates are not enough experienced in this area, lead the party and show them the path, which group to take first, where you must stop for patrols, etc. Of course sometimes there will be an idiot agroing everything and you will fail, but most of the time it will be ok.
The same goes for leavers. Sometimes you have a bitter boy in the team leaving for no reason. The last time it happened to me (a few days ago) we had a guy going for masters in some mission who abosultely wanted to lead the team. Everybody noticed he was doing a crappy job (he was telling us to attack the wrong mobs etc), and we all decided to ignore his "orders". After a few mins, he just told us "fine, as nobody wants to listen, i'm off" and poof. There is nothing to do in such cases.
But I also know that sometimes people left because of me, because I was tired or something and argued with them, whether I was right or wrong doesn't matter. Having a leaver doesn't happen often but I know when it does, half of the time I'm partially responsible.
Even if you have a bad player in the team, no need for being offensive. You're going to play with him only during 15 mins - that's not that long. I had missions screwed because of stupid argues like that. I remember this team in Arborstone. We had 2 eles. One of the them was using firestorm. OK that's a bad skill but still we were doing nicely. The other ele got crazy about him and wrote harsh comments. Everybody got pissed and 3 players left. For nothing because we would have easilly completed the mission. Just because someone found clever to start an argue with someone he will never see again when the mission will be over, who was not doing much good, but he was not doing much bad either.
