Sometimes the game simply forces your hand.
MSecorsky
OK, maybe not forces... but did anyone else ever find an item that directly affected how they play the game?
Case in point... my necro now needs to get the drunkard titles. Yes, needs. Why? To justify carrying this.
Who else has found items that changed their play, caused them to create a class they wouldn't have, etc?
(Hey, trying to kill time until NIghtfall...)

I found a great Kappa Shield a while back. So I forced my Ranger to be a Ranger Warrior and then got the Luxon turtle armor for him. Now if I can only find a turtle-ish type of melee weapon for him....
Yanman.be
Pink armour to match my Everthorn's Chakrams, Pink armour to match my Galigord's Stone Staff.. GG
HawkofStorms
Very nice. I basically made my warrior because I had farmed so many nice warrior weapons one my ele that I figured "I might as well use these."
Legolas Ravenwood
I baught Elswyths Longbow (might be Recurve) that has the Shadow Bow skin, so I decided to craft Ranger Fow armour and buy 4 Black dyes!
The biggest impulse buy in-game I've ever made

A friend of mine bought 15k drakescale to match with his dragon mask -)

Nope,i never allow the game to force my hand,if i find a cool item that i cant use i sell it,there has to be more then an item to motivate me to do sompthing, otherwise i simply wont enjoy it and stop it well before my goal is reached.

Actually, yes. One of my girls found a *perfect* water/earth staff. Added energy, enchants + 20%, whole nine yards. My ele had just switched to Air and Earth after running minions (what fun to have all that lovely energy even if your bonies are lower level). Anyway, she just had to play with Water and Earth to use that nice staff.
She's spiking right now, but the staff is in reserve for when she starts feeling like playing in the mud again.

My monk/ranger accidentally capped a non-elite(balth's aura) because I didn't understand what caps were really best for. Because I got Balth's aura earlier than I could have(much earlier) my entire build suddenly centered around that, and it worked wonders. Little things like finding poisoners bows and things like that push me to mess around with play styles as well.

So, you're going for a title you can only see in towns to justify using an off-hand you can only see outside of towns?
Malice Black
Dyed my armor black to keep in with my old char's name "Malice Black" but thats about it.
Chuba
I just recently found a nice Celestial shield from a chest... might want to find a fitting weapon and armor for it... looking forward for glowing blue armor in Nightfall
lg5000
I liked the armor and wanted it on a 'innocent' looking character... so re-made my mesmer who had all mesmer skills from factions and prophecies on her...
xiao1985
got a celestial drop, now i am crazy collecting celestial weapons... =(
even the crap ones...
even the crap ones...
Sir Moak
Started collecting ranger pets/beastmastery skills/elites after I discovered I can charm three different lvl15 pets in factions.
Started a Ritualist in Factions after I found a perfect channeling Raven Staff in the troll caves outside Droknar's Forge.
Dyed my monk's armor blue to match her reef lurker pet as a smiting Mo/R.
And there probably were many other cases I can't recall now.

Only time it happened to me was after I had created a male warrior, deleted it, created a monk, deleted my ranger for a pvp slot and played the thunderclap bug a bit with a warrior which got me into the playstyle of it.
The IDS then came out and obviously I went farming for it for the hell of it got it, then decided I may as well make a W/E after deleting my ele just to wield that sword. I now have a full arsenal of weaponry for it.

When I got my celestial longbow, I almost decided to make a whole new set of druids 15 armor just to dye it purple.

I'm just waiting for a staff that has a Beastmastery +1 wrapping on it. Don't know if it exists, but if it does, I have a young Beast Mistress in training who will be glad to wield it!

I had Malinon's Hammer I think it was on my ranger so when I created my warrior I gave the hammer to my warrior and was a hammer warrior through most of Prophecies.

The fact that you have to be 1337 to be a legendary survivor in more ways than one is hardly a coincidence, I think.
As for moi, I'll need to think this through a bit. I don't honestly think the game has ever forced my hand in such a way. Infact, I think I've probably done the copmplete oposite on several occasions. Best example was making a hammer warrior in factions, deciding that I wanted the Icebreaker, suggesting farming it with some friends and then having it drop for me off the very first mighty grawl we kill. I was pleased. Very pleased

I made my old ranger called Lyra Forgerunner after finding that certain bow >.>

Well way back when I picked up the pre order box for Guild Wars from Best Buy. The pre order item was the Canthan Targe. I made a warrior partly based on that item.

Not that it matters, but are you sure titles don't show up outside towns? Never thought to look.
Skuld
Nope. It would distract from gameplay if they were, don't you think?
