I've been in the same guild since my second day of playing guild wars (over 9 months ago).

The guild is mostly made up of a bunch of scottish friends who live in Edinbourgh, and I got in because I knew the guild leader from a FPS clan I was in, as well, one of my other clanmates was a guild leader.

I've since become a Guild officer, as well as 2 more good friends (again from my FPS clan). I see no reason to leave in the future, and I doubt I'll get kicked if I go for a long time, as long as I tell them before I disapear (we have forums).

I've been in 5 guilds, I think...

The first was the best. PvE focused. Small guild with mature players with jobs and families. Awesome environment. Lot of sharing and helping. We'd hand over ectos to members trying to get FoW armor. The most expensive greens and golds would be passed around without any money changing hands. Ironically, they were some of the worst players I've been around, but I had so much fun w them, that it was easy to overlook. Our leader when playing monk would use the +15e weapons and 3 sup runes all the time and ran out of of energy and got killed often. One of our members played a Mes/R trapper with Resolve as the stance... was almost impossible to keep alive.
Then they left for WOW after finding the pve side of Factions to be lame.

Since then, I've been in a coupla guilds that held HzH, but soured on Faction Farming quickly, as well as the fact that the general makeup of the alliance was mostly immature kids.

I'm back with the guild that held HzH only cuz of a couple of players who are fun and helpful. However, most of the guild is dead. Changes are supposedly coming with a new alliance and recruitment of more active members, but we'll have to see about that.

I really miss my first guild where it felt like we were all buds. You could lend a member a perfect mursaat hammer and know you'd get it back. *sniff* *sniff* I miss those days.

I've run into quite a few individuals who are great, but the guilds as a whole have been pretty weak.

I've been in quite a few guilds, only been in one that I really liked but it ended up breaking up cause of one idiot. Most of them ended up quiting or starting college so never play much anymore. Now I'm just in a guild of 3 it gets lonely sometimes

this is my third, usually I get sick of the people in the guild and what they talk about and stuff and i just get irritated. My second guild I left because of inactivity, if all the people would have stayed it wouldve been great. My biggest problem is alliance guilds, I cannot stand my alliance members, not one of them. They are air-headed morons, and it almost makes me want to leave my guild to get away from that BS!! Buch of Liberals coming out with dumb chat and they throw around the "Ive been playing since beta so i know more then you" comment when you try and tell them using monk skills when you are pvping as a warrior is bad. They believe Live Viscariously and mending are godly... grr there is my rant!!!

I have nver changed guilds as I sent out a message back in beta about guilds recriuting.It was then that I joined The Green Guild I know strange name as of a few months in beta I was appointed leader.It is a very small guild although I would like to recriut more but when I do and help them through the game they end up either leaving or someone knabs from me.I am very weary on recriuting.

Not many people realize that.

Anyway:
1) About a month after I started playing I accepted a random invite in Ascalon lol. Don't even remember the name of the guild. It was inactive, but sad enough, I didn't know how to leave your guild >_<
2) When I figured out how, I quit and came to the Guilds section here and posted. Got picked up by a guild called "Fifth Dawn [fD]". It was in the process of taking on strong members and such. The leader got inactive but got a new leader to replace him, so the guild survived.
3) That new leader was Austrialian and after awhile left to get in an Austrailian guild, and left the guild in charge of one of the officers...Bad Idea, guild lost alot of members and the surviving ones went to [scF] (dont remember original name..just tag)
4) Leader decided to rename the guild "Super Cute and Fluffy [scF]". If that counts as a "change". There was a long period the leader was inactive so ALOT of people left of course, and when he got back we were all basically gone and he hates us now :\
5) For the time being alot the refugees of that guild just joined an allied guild "Objective Morality [oM]", I followed.
6) The core members of [oM] and [fD] made a new guild by the name of "Flying Purple People [eatr]" and thats the guild I'm currently in.

7) This doesn't count, but we have a "run fun builds and play around" guild called "If We Were Korean We Would [HAck]" and I've changed tags to that one sometimes just to get the 4 guild members requirement

Just two. Just one of the few (I guess) that was lucky to find the right "home".

Nero Dreamers [Nd] - Pve guild. I was more into getting my characters through the game and farm some gold. I was always envious of the people who had 100K in their storage :P

I got into HA (then ToPK) and starged trying to get into PuGs. Needless to say it was hard, so I got some guildes into halls. Some adapted, while others didn't care so much. Did ranger spike and did quite lousy for the time.

Inyurface Gameing [IYF] - Got into groups with this guys back when they where We Kill For Rank [rank]. Was guildless for an hour or so and was invited into IYF and was here ever since!

My 1st guild was small and people went online so rarely that i left,

My second crashed due to the leader going to play WoW, (traitor)

Now I'm very content with my current guild, the Caesan Clan, made a good deal of friends etc, and now I'm being trained for GvGs,

joined my friends guild when i started playing.
after a few months, everyone became inactive and my friends joined a pvp guild
i joined soon after.
after a few weeks, we left the guild and joined a guild that another friend made.
i got into a fight with another friend and left the guild to join the guild of a person i met online.
after a few months, the guild died, and i decided to rejoin my friends so we went guild hunting
i found one alliance, wasnt bad, but it wasnt good enough, so i joined the guild my friends found.
We stayed in that guild for a week or so and joined another guild because they were too quiet.
The guild we joined after that had extremely stupid members so yet again, we went hunting for another guild.
Eventually, we found a good guild, stayed for a few months and eventually left when my friend created a new guild which i am currently in.

Recap.
1) KoA
2) HLSH
3) tN
4) MR
5) forgot name. only stayed for an hour.
6) COC
7) ALOA
8) Cadi / Dink

I was kicked from my previous guild.
"Why?" you ask.
I'll tell you. Because I did not want to be only monk for Unwaking Waters mission. I had already done it with my monk, and felt that someone else should go monk as well. They didnt like that, so they kicked me.

I'm in my 4th guild in as many months. Trying to find one that suits me.

Around 8-9 guilds, most of them I just joined so I could do some AB, give whoever invited me 100g and leave.

Currently in FiR, a GvG/HA European guild, we mainly spend our time doing anything that's fun with of course the consideration of personal benifit. Did leave...and rejoin it...like 3 times due to lack of activity, since the timeline is very different, but they were always happy to welcome me back

Someone I met in Pre during my first few days playing GW, created a guild with me called Dark Tower Eagle Hawks [DTEH]. I stayed in DTEH for nearly 10 months. Eventually I left with 3 others, mostly because the guild wasn't PvP'ing much.

Together we created Voice of the Darkness [VoD]. I've been in VoD for 6 months and still enjoying every minute I spend with the guildies.

2 guild; I consider it 1. The original broke up because of BF-GF issues between the leader and an officer; but the entire guild, besides them, reformed into the holding guild I made to keep everyone together. And then we failed to disband and form a 'real' guild... hence, Biscuit of Dewm [MEEP]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~
... wow.
Now, no flames please. I'm not calling any of you here a bad person. That said:
I've noticed that those who go from guild to guild every couple of days, weeks, or even months... they never seem to be happy with what they get. The same holds true with applicants into my guild who have gone through 10+ guilds before... I always look at them with a bit of suspicion; and ususally that suspicion proves accurate.
The only common factor in all of your failed attempts to find a good guild has been you.
Of course there are a myriad of other reasons one might have trouble finding a guild; but that's a little like saying that there are some people who steal to have enough to eat, so all people who steal are trying to survive and obviously it can't be that some are just theives. =P ((No, I'm not calling some of you petty thieves, either! If you're taking offense at this point of the post, please stop and get the chip off your shoulder. ^_^))
I dunno, my observations may be skewed and totally wrong, but that's just what I've noticed here, in game, in GWGuru's IRC.... some people just don't get along well with other people; and those are the people that have many, many guild memberships behind them. Most of the members of my guild [MEEP] are there as one of their first few guilds. There are a few members that went around, never able to find what they wanted, until they found MEEP, but... by and large, most people who have come into MEEP after multiple guild hops, then left MEEP to go on to another guild (and, since I tend to keep in touch with the nicer ones, I know they went on to another, and another, and another...).
It's not to say that all guild hoppers (and that's what you are, admit it) are bad or unsocial... but, with a gun to my head and all things being equal, I'd pick the applicant who's been in 2 guilds before, over the applicant who's been in 20.
^_~ Of course, all things are never equal, and in good guilds (in my opinion)... previous memberships shouldn't be a factor in getting admitted in the guild. Maybe ask it to help get to know your background, but admittance policies should depend on who you are, not who you were...
I've been in five in fifteen months. I left three of them because I was the only one on. One of them kicked me since they didn't care for my opinions on monk armor in PvP and am still in my fifth guild. Seems to be going alright when people are on, I'm just on too much so I notice when everyone else is not.
I've changed about 6-7 times in about 5 months it sounds weird but sometimes it is not as you expected it to be..the first 2 guilds i joined were when i had no clue about the game ^^ the first one I left because sometimes i would be the only player logged on in days, the 2nd fell apart, after that I went on my own for a while and joined a friends guild which was in AB a lot i changed 3 guilds in that same alliance because, I wanted to see which guild fit with me..then I started to dislike AB because of the long waiting times and because I simply just played it to much..But now i finally settled down for 2 months in my current guild..it's not one of those guilds who recruit that much we are only a 20 man group but its great, everyone is always online and we help each other as much as we can, even if you done a mission over and over you still help the other persons because its fun hanging around with each other..imo this is the best guild ever
Left one guild, but for good reason.
Basically the guild had an 18+ rule, and they recruited an under-18 by accident, a few weeks later, a dispute broke out over the rule after a few more "rule-bendings" occured, and the Leader's girlfriend suddenly left, followed by another officer who was inscensed (did I spell that right) that she was "pushed" out (WTF?), then the Leader decided he wasn't up to the job and designated the original leader, who was gone for more than a month.
like 4 times.
My first guild died cuz the leader and all the officers quit to play wow without telling any of the members<i found that out 8 months later from one of the officer> Then i remained guildless for over 8 months.
My second guild is Hero, it died cuz the leader is no longer active enough to take care of the guild and the officers acting selfishly and immature.
My 3rd guild is xen of heroes, it was a great guild with alot of good players, i quit cuz my rl friends asked me to join the grotto club.
now i am in my friend's guild, most members just log on to afk in grottos, nobody actually play except me!
I do have to agree with you I think at most I have been in 3-4 guilds since the release of the game way back when even had a beta guild. First few guilds where just friends from previous games and a few new faces that eventually died and where disbanded. Then I joined another guild while doing a mission with 7 other people that where already in that guild and just for some reason could not call it home even though they where very nice people.
Now I only see a need for a guild if you want to pvp, it is kind of hard to actually get use to people since most play at different times or very rarely, some guilds are fly by night and some of the long time guilds you cant even get into anymore because they have become so elite or dont want any new players joining.
I just solo now but always getting guild invites with many of my characters until I feel comfortable in joining another guild.
I have been in several Guilds since the game came out. The first was Section Nine which I founded. I disbanded it to join a friend who turned out to not be so much a friend. Then my third annd most successful guild was Section FIve. I founded that one with another friend(Monk With Bad Hair) and now it is doing great. Over 50 members since august last year. It has had its share of problems some of which were major. At the moment though I had to leave Section Five due to the health of my father (dont have the time to watch him and play Guild Wars), so I left the guild in the capable hands of Twisted the Mage and his brother Monk with Bad Hair. Section Five is mostly orientated towards PVE but it does some other aspects of the game. At this moment I am guildless and not interested in joining any, I would like to sometime return to Section Five but for now I cannot get online enough to justify taking a spot.
I've changed guilds once. No promotion here, but we have a great guild and alliance. Very helpful and alot of casual pve players. Our guild is a teamspeak only guild (although not the alliance) and we all have a blast together. All i can say is it takes time to find the right guild for you and although ours isn't the right guild for everyone, we have managed to put together a guild and alliance that seems to fit everyone pretty well. Of course we are accepting invites too! (sorry shameless plug)
I have joined and helped recruit, run to places and level up and farmed fow and uw and done quests etc etc but... it never fails that when you really need someone's help for your new character its like no one is ever available. . . . But when its all said and done I really would like to find a guild that does enjoy the game for what it is. See how far your character can get, develop new strategies for beating missions and quests and some friendly banter.
Have you all had much success with your guilds? Are you still in the guild you originally started with?
I know there are ubber guilds but what about simple fun loving non demanding friendly casual guilds, has anyone found that elusive animal?
Just curious.
Well met!
My first guild membership lasted 5 minutes (solicited and ignored). Then one day, not long ago, in this very forum, I read a reply to a post from a player lamenting his inability to find PUGs that would accept him because he wanted to play an unconventional build. The reply encouraged him to continue to think "outside the box", and went on to support the idea of playing for fun, with respect for all, and that we were all new once, etc. I was so impressed with his words that I contacted him. I joined his guild soon after. We are a small guild of roughly 20+. I am a relatively inexperienced player (Wo Tan Ki is my first, and essentially only, character) and one of the newest members of the guild. Most of the other members I have met are extremely experienced and rich in Gold, Weapons, and Expertise, yet they are always eager to help in every way imaginable. I have met few nicer people anywhere, on or offline, than these.
