In-Game Voice Caommunication System

I dont know if this has been suggested but I couldnt find it so.....
I think it would be cool and convenient if GW had a built in voice chat system. I've tried ventrillo and teamspeak and had a lot of trouble with them, plus they mad ethe game kinda laggy. I think if the dev's implemented a voice-chat, it would greatly benefit the game experiance. There could be channels for team, alliance, and guild, but probably not local, i dont know. And if you dont have the capability, you dont need it, the typing is still there. It would also be nice if the game configured your headset or mic for you, but that might be going to far. Please post replies with your thoughts and Im sorry if this is a repeater.

Definitely been suggested. If Anet had ever intended to add an ingame voice chat function; Prophecies probably wouldn't have come with a trial for Teamspeak. Not to mention this would only add more stress to the servers.

I think this would cause lag, lag, and more lag, especially for people who don't instend to use this at all. Not that it's a bad idea or anything.

vent/ts ftw?!
if vent/ts server laggy, find a new one

yup, vent ts servers are one someone elses but anets servers... my gf has ts server on for guild use and i know what im talking about when i say that ts easily takes 2-3 times more bandwith/player than gw which really rarely goes to more than 3kb/sec
tho i do like this i really doubt anet is willing to triple their servers for this one...
a possible solution might be ingame ts/vent server search screen that lets u choose from several public servers and somekindof merging of the two programs, or perhaps a protocol that lets u use ts/vent servers from within the game

I betad DDO and built in voice was way convenient... it was a hit... took a bit of tweaking but was extremely nice... no worrying if the "boby's" TS server would handle the group... easy comunication in groups...
all you had to do is have voice enabled and form a group bam eveyrone got voice... there was even the nice freature to not turn it on and even so to have it turn on at least to here youre group for better comunication even if u didnt have a mic...
it promote pugs because there wasn't this seperation of players who did/didn't have Vent/TS...
and there was no confusion of what program to use and how to get it running...
I wish GW had the feature

Tweak the Ventrilo or Teamspeak options on how the sound is sent and given if you are having trouble with it. If those make your game laggy, imagine havig the server implimented with them and having that many people using in-game communication...you want lag...that would be lag...

LIKE I SAID... i had this when beta testing DDO...
the voice servers are seperate from the game... and is NOT a serperate program running...
having built in voice reduces the amount of lag a person would experience having the game running and a voice program running...
the Voice does not cause game lag because it is located on a seperate server (only lag that would be experenced would be on your end not the game end)
having voice disabled means you are not connecting to the voice server therefor no additional information is transmitted that normally wouldnt as if the game had no build in voice server
BTW if you want to go test it out for yourself to see how a built in voice system affects the game go download the free trial of DDO... the reason im even suggesting it is because DDO has exactly the same game model as GW instanced explorable areas etc... was really peved they expected me to pay for a game that wasn't a true MMORPG(masive multiplayer games have persistant worlds and you can actually PLAY without more than 8-12 players at a time in the same explorable areas... guess they couldnt understand that) and honestly just like GW does NOT warrant monthly subscription fees

TBH if you have lag running Vent and Guild Wars, you need a better internet connection or you need to upgrade your computer.

I have played games that had their own VoIP and people used Vent/TS anyway. The in-game one was used only by people intending to annoy others, until people turned the in-game one off.

It's bad enough listening to someone singing "head, shoulders, knees and toes" on UT2004 (while winning).
in-game voice chat would probably be useful but i don't think it's really needed.

As aforementioned, if yiou want to speak, use a separate program (every good player has one of the two). Introducing a voice chat into GW would put severe stress on the server and more importantly, cost into the equation which would eventually fall back into the deep pockets of us, the customers.

I still pug most missions (no, not with 12 year old wammos), and ingame communication would still be useful. Not everyone has/wants ts/vent..
and even with guildies. when you're doing something with a guildie you can use your guild's ts server, but what if other guildies are doing the same? very confusing.
