For NF, the new flying creatures that we get to fight are going to be cool, imo. But do you think that the flying enemies will be affected by some skills -- like tenai's wind or starburst. And, more importantly, do you think that the these enemies will by invunerable to traps? It would be interesting if they weren't.

the best way to answer this question would be to try those very skills on kuunavang - although she doesnt ever actually go over the land, right? I dunno, just a thought.

Kuunavang triggers traps at the Harvest Temple. Just tested.

Since there is no real implementation of flying in GW, everything that seems to fly actually doesn't.

Things like the Phoenix pet, Mursaat, Kuunavang, and Skree don't really fly. The current gameplay system doesn't allow it. They are just animated to seem that they fly.

No Z axis. I think mobs will only 'appear' to fly as always.

Flying (or, at least, the ability to 'walk' over barriers) is implemented for Kuunavang, which doesn't make her immune to melee attacks, but does allow her to move to places where melee attacks can't reach her.

I bet they'll only be able to hover (technically), like kuunavang, saltspray drags etc. I think it's a stretch to think they'd re-write code to allow skills to effect these enemies differently than any others, that's a huge undertaking when you consider the number of skills in the game.

Don't think we'll see favorable winds grant a movement buff to flyers anytime soon. Traps will be triggered by them for sure.

That is because Kuunavang is behind the land barrier where it drops off. She only appears to "walk over barriers" because she is mostlikely on a rail of sorts that is away from the ground. The barriers themselves don't extend to the sky level.

Now that you mention it, she probably is just on a large, invisible platform.

there is a sort of feeling of a z-axis in the game ( depending on height you get hit in the head more or the chest more etc) but there isn't an actual z-axis so i don't think flying will ever be implemented, and if it is, its gonna be a while from now.

The only thing that is affected by Z axis thus far is projectiles (arrows) if I'm not mistaken.

Traps and other such things aren't affected by height. I remember one time I got hit my melee mobs under a bridge also.
