People don't know unless you tell them or they read the EULA, and honestly, who reads the EULA? Anyways, ArenaNet seems to have quite a bit of fun perma-banning everyone they catch doing this, because there was a point last year when the practice almost crashed the in-game economy.

Don't buy gold online.

There is really little to add here, if you buy gold for real cash, you risk getting your account banned.
