About that free character slot

Does anyone know if the free character slot slot you get with the pre-order pack will be activiated without installing Nightfall and just on it's release? The reason I ask is I have pre-ordered the Collectors Edition, but it probably won't arrive on Friday and I really want to reserve a character name on that day.

Just make a new character with the name, no one else will be able to then. I have 2 characters with saved names I want later. I bought a few extra slots after they where made available to buy, so I wouldn't have to worry about not having anymore. ^^

Oh I thought there might have been another way, because I have 4 level 20 characters and no more free slots.

You can always just buy a few more slots, as they are only 10$ each.

Just make a character with that name. When Nightfall comes out, you can delete it and re use it with in an hour. The extra slot only shows up when you enter the NF key. And there is supposed to be no delay's with the CE.

of course not, otherwise i could pre-order 26 copies, use all the keys, then cancel my orders. it also says clearly that they will be activated when mixed with a nightfall account

The free character slot will only be activated after you've entered a retail key of Guild Wars: Nightfall. Which will give you 1+2 new character slots, at the start of this new campaign

I bought the CE on Amazon.co.uk and paid for First Class shipping, so do you reckon it will arrive on Friday?

Was stated awhile back to get the free character slot from the pre-order you must have a original Nightfall Key to have it activate. So if you dont get your CE on release date you wont have the extra slot until you actually get a Nightfall key. Best thing I can tell you to do if you have the two additional slots from factions if you have it and have not used them all to create a dummy character with the name and then delete when you get you CE.

You would need to active the Nightfall CD-Key in order to get that extra slot (add that with the two existing one on the Nightfall account, we'll get 3 if you brought the preorder box) So there is no way around this system, if your order is coming late, you won't get the extra slots. As for name reservation, the simple way is to make a character with that name and delete it once you got Nightfall to use that same name again.

Gaile said there will be no delays in shipping the CE so fingers crossed it will arrive on time, though I'm not exactly going to be bored considering F.E.A.R EP and Splinter Cell DA are coming out on the same day.

No delays in shipping ain't exactly fun as that means my online supplier still won't start shipping until release day... :-/
Yes I know I could go downtown and hope someone had it, but how things work up here I'm pretty sure no stores will have it in stock on launch day. Besides it's excessively expensive compared to online prices...

Someone said you could use your trial key that came with the prerelease bonus pack to make a new account and use those slots to reserve a name then just delete them once you have nightfall installed. You have to wait an hour for the name to be released to other accounts I believe. I haven't tried this so I'm not positive you can delete chars from an expired trial account, but I think you can based on what others have said.
