They're perfomring maintenance, says so on the log in screen although I'd take 15 minutes with a pinch of salt, prob be more like an hour.

I fully understand site maintenance and to be fair it doesn’t happen that often.
I just wish they could be more accurate on their time assessment or at least update the message if they have problems.

Didn't realise you could get in with other characters. Was trying to get in with my ele (female ele) who I just started and am trying to get to LA in time for nightfall. Want that sunspear armour

Same for me. What's going on is any character located in GH cannot log on (error code=40). Any character in a town or outpost can log on with no trouble. For me that is just one chartacter presently, and unfortunately the one that doesnt need play time right now.
Also, I recommend not trying to go to GH for the time being with a character that can log on. I got my necro in there, only to be botted off. When I tried to log right back on, she was in there and I cannot log on with her anymore. :\

seems some area, were under maintenance, i was doing some missions wih a char when i enter bergens and logged out, i cant log anymore.... i guess ill just wait for a while..

it ticks me off that anet cannot be more proactive and make a note to their subscribers that the maintenance will take longer than their published 15 mins. its already what, nearly 3 hours?

I can't get onto my Warrior/Monk at all, and my Mesmer/Necromancer has to stay in the Frost Gate area or else i'll get the same message.

I get error 40 when I try to go to LA and Drok's.

first i thought the "error 40" only occurs when entering a pvp- arena, cuz i was just about to enter fort aspenwood "arena" when i crashed(3 hours ago)..
after trying to log in with my ranger who is at Hero'sAscent i got error 40 aswell!
then i tried my monk who was in kaineng center. I finally i could log in.. but after i tried to enter pvp random arena, rofl, i got error 40 again...
and yes, having no maintenance message on log screen make me feel like guildwars forgot me :S -not very nice

yups, i can only acces 1 character, and on that one i keep getting messaes as well when i try to enter certain areas.

heh, i figured out that i can log in and play when creating a pvp chara!
but attention, if i want to re-log with this chara i keep getting code 40 error, so i ll have to make a new pvp chara to get back in :O
