I have both Factions and Prophecy (I recived them as a gift)
Now, I want to start a character, but I don't know in which one to start it..
The idea is to have a AOE fire Elementalist with some Necromancy minions (to halt attackers)...which campigan would you recomand me to play? (oh yes, and FYI...I'm sort of a noob, so please give a detailed answer as to why should I choose that one...As I'm rather clueless for the diffrences between the two campigans...I only know that Factions have two more classes...which I wain't gonna choose anyway)
Factions or Prophecy

Prophecies is a good place to start. I personnaly prefer/ed the learning curve wiht prophecies rather than factions. Easier break in period, good learning curve, training for professions works well.
For more information on professions go to

Lot of good information for noobs of all caliber and long time players as well

Definatly start with Prophises.
For all the same reasons Honor gave plus others. Proph had a lot more quests that gave you skill. This means you learn a lot more skills a lot faster then in Factions. Also, the general concensus is that Proph had a better plot line.

With Nightfall's release this weekend you will have more difficulty getting human players to team up with you for missions in either though.
Your timing just couldn't be worse frankly. Prophesies will probably teach you the game a bit better though.
My advice would be to pick two professions that you fit your gaming style over the long haul and into PvP if you plan to do that. Elementalists are decent damage dealers in PvE but have a very different role in GvG- Nightfall might change that a bit. Minion Masters are much the same- powerful in PvE but rarely used in GvG. The key thing is that you are "unlocking" key skills for professions you want to play. If your goal is to ultimately play in GvGs, I would probably run through the game as a W/Mo as both professions are much needed in PvP- though generally not as W/Mo's itself.
If your goal is to be a PvP nuker, please read "Why Nuking Sucks"

which is probably the most influential thread in GW history. This might save you some heartache in the long run.
Good luck!

I'd recommend Prophecies also but wouldn't recommend an elementalist + minion master combo. In the early game it may be fine but as you move through it will lose more and more power since as a non-primary necromancer you are limited to how strong your minions can be and how many you can have.
Or play the ele/MM combo to start with the plan of changing it later when it ceases to be effective. A weakness hex + stoning is always a fun combo. See what kinds of things like that you can work into a build.
You can use the henchmen as meat shields instead of minions and if you play with other people it is even better.
