I'm not to great with computers past the basics and listening to/reading directions. I need a hand. I keep my computer locked up pretty tight. I keep installations off my non admin account. Most internet use is directed to a secondary account as well as online games. My firewall, Windows Live Onecare, has the needed ports allowed as well as all the GW applications. However, Guild Wars only runs on my admin account not my secondary which is what I want it to run on. When trying to run it on my account with no admin powers, it always stops at "loading Arenanet: 0%" anyone know why this is? I'm stumped myself. Thanks for reading through my big block of text. I bolded the important parts.

I'm pretty sure I have an a1350n from HP pavilion. With Microsoft Windows XP Professional Verson 5.1.2600, an AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ version x86 Family 15 Model 43 Stepping 1. Right now I've got a current speed of 2190 MHz and a cache size of 512 KB. I have 192.4 GB with GW (factions) installed. It seems I have about 100 GB of memory left.

What could be the problem?

Maybe it counts downloading new files to update the game, as installing? So it doesn't let you do it?

But personally your security measures seem kind of...elaborate if you will. To each his own I suppose.

I don't know the procedure off hand, but I think what you are wanting to do can be accomplished with the right set of permissions. In order for guildwars to update itself and stream updates to itself the secondary user account would need full read and write permissions to the Guildwars Installation folder or home folder. Without thos permissions guildwars will probably have a quite a few problems if you can ever get it going. Like I said though I don't know the procedure off hand so you would need to try to google it or wait around for someone who knows. But from the sounds of it you are getting caught by some type of permissions error. I'd also say it might be possible that the firewall assigns rules by user, you may want to check and issure that the secondary user has the right to also open those ports when needed.

Thanks, you guys have been really helpful. I'll try it out. But yeah they're elaborate... I somehow have a knack for finding unsafe sites full of viruses, worms, and hackers. Remember the blaster worm a few years back? I think I had 16+ copies of it on my hard drive. And an attempted hacking occurs about every 10 minutes. I try to stay safe.
