i think events like halloween\wintersdays day should be spread across all chapters, rather than having them exclusively in one or another...

How exactly is this ironic? Clearly, they'll have Elona, fristly since it's the new chapter, and secondly since who's going to spend serious time anywhere if they've just bought NF?

Since they've pre-empted possible problems with distribution (akin to Factions), or that some people will plan to wait to see what others think before buying NF, or people who just plain don't want it, they've allowed it in one of the existing areas, and happened to choose Tyria over Cantha. As ironic as rain on your wedding day.

Or maybe Canthans just don't believe in Halloween. It could happen.

Well, i can imagine quite a few people dancing in happiness. Those that were whining about Cantha getting all the events and poor Tyria being left out. Anyways, it's good to know he is coming back. It was really the most fun event with all the lines i'll never forget.

Like, typing:
"Woooaaah, awesome. Did you look at /boo? That new animation is great!"
And baaam, you have a full district of people all trying out /boo at the same time

Or:
"Mad King George says... do nothing"
"WTFz0R i typed as fast as i could!!!!!!!!!!"

Oh well, and i'm soooo getting the pumpkin head for all my chars again. This time i'll keep them all. Perfect for 605ing hehe :P

Halloween is a Tyrian holiday, no irony about it. And of course they're going to add Nightfall to the mix. They are afterall trying to sell the latest chapter. You know, like, how they did for Factions?

dont forget the ppl making elona = ppl made tyria

since its their department working on the theme, not the factions group.

easter next year you might see factions + chap 4 have a co-alligned event, that elona and tyria miss out on

^^ True, but I also thought the people making tyria were broken into two groups, one for factions and one for nightfall...

But I think that's a good possibility.

I would imagine the Kurzicks do as according to the lore they're a Church state and Halloween's origins stem from the Catholic Church and it is a day to honour the Saints according to Celtic history which the Kurzicks have even though they're more Germanic going by some of the names, didn't see a Seamus Vasburg or Countess Danika O'Leary now did we, so I think thats rules out any Celtic origins ..

But as Tyria's had nothing really all year it's to the Canthans

Lets hear it for the Mad King!!

Fixed.
Also dont forget that the people who made Cantha were also half of the Tyria creation team.

There's no disguise at all, the thread title itself is oozing Factions-hate.

I liked Factions, I just don't like a lot of the places it takes you through.

Cantha's pretty much my home in GW
I don't want to have to leave because everyone hated it.

And if you guys hate it so much, why do you even bother with Cantha still?

I think it's nice that they are having Halloween in Tyria. Day of the Tengu and Dragon Festival were Cantha specific, so I think they are just evening it out a bit. Of course they are going to have the event in Elona, it will help push the sales of the game a bit. Also, I can also completely agree with having certain event that are chapter specific. After all, the whole world doesn't celebrate all the same holidays, so its not that far fetched to have the same thing in the game.

As for the topic that Factions sucks....no it doesn't, it's just different. If it doesn't suit your play tastes, move on. There are people that prefer Tyria, people that prefer Cantha, and people like me that like both. Cantha is a nice change of pace from the wide open, rolling space of Tyria. Just my thoughts.

I mostly make cracks about Cantha because I disliked Kaineng City. I don't hate it with a passion or anything, but I feel it deserves a ribbing whenever the chance presents itself.

This topic happens to fit the bill.

I would guess it is becuase of the relationship that Tyria and Elona have together by the Crystal Desert after beating Factions with my Tyrian char.s I now keep them closer to there mostly Droks. The reason is that Ascalon is still hasn't recovered.I keep a Rit is Cantha although I amy delete as I am just trying it out.

I was never bashing Cantha, I enjoyed it to an extent. But I was just glad to see some attention return to Tyria for once.

It's a lot my home, too; for all that I started out in Tyria, I actually spend WAY more time in Cantha than Tyria. So you're not alone out there! Not everyone hated it! Someone pointed out around here the other day that the people that did just happen to be a lot more vocal than those that loved it.

Another Halloween thread got closed because it was pre-empted by this one, but I was ignoring this one because it was so anti-factions. I just don't get it. Kaineng is way more interesting than post-searing. Dust and devourers - where's the fun there? I quit the original GW after 2 or 3 months - if a relative hadn't seen it on my shelf, assumed I was into it and bought me Factions for my birthday, I wouldn't be playing now. I love Factions - for all it's flaws, it's just not as much of a chore to play as Prophecies. Oh, and the idea that it's going to just die - I've been to outposts where there's just one other player in Tyria - I've yet to see that in Cantha.

But each to their own, I suppose.

Or... they will just make the real-world/(more or less)-universal celebrations alway in the last chapter and in the original campaign(wich i hope they will).
That would seem fitting since Proph is THE original Guild Wars.
(before any one say it, I dont think proph is better than faction/NF, i'm just saying it is the original game of GW)
