Add two handed swords
Ryuken Tamashi
First I just want to say that GW should Add Two handed swords. And I also made the "beserker" class (concept forums, gives you some basic ideas of how I invision the class) which is specilized in two handed swords, just in case they would rather have a class for two handers instead of a weapon addition to warriors. /signed

That would require Anet to completely redo the damage range of swords.
Why are hammers 19-35 and swords 15-22?
Ask yourself this question and you'll come the the logical conclusion of why two handed swords are a no-go

Two handed swords could be classified differently from regular swords to avoid skill balance issues. They would be have larger damage ranges but slower attack speeds to balance them out.
Either way, losing the shield would be a big disadvantage.

how about you unequip your shield, and you RPG that you hold the sword with two hands?
sorry, there is too little distinctive (sp?) flavor on 2-handed swords to warrant a seperate weaponline imho.

But one question?
If they introduced weapons that required you to hold them with two hands, wouldnt that require re-designing the animation of the characters in order to do so?
I dont remember ever seeing any profession other then a ranger who uses both hands to use a weapon.
If it was do-able, Id say /signed
But if it was too much effort, and took time away from other aspects, then id have to say /unsigned

Warrior uses two hands for hammers.
They could easily use those animations.
Well hammers are heavier and are swung with more force than a sword (since it is swung using 2 hands), common sense really.
Therefore, a twohanded sword, since it would be heavier and swung with more force, would be more damage than a one handed sword, but less than a hammer, since it has less mass.
I would think the damage and attack speed would be smack in the middle current sword and hammer stats.
Two Handed Sword - 17-29 damage with attack speed of 1.54 seconds.
Not very difficult IMO.

Two-handed swords would need a whole new skill line... or at very least use the axe skill line. The sword skills in GW are designed to use balance and finesse, which can't really be obtained while wielding a two-hander, which handles a lot more like an axe due to its weight and momentum. Notice I'm talking about zweihanders, claymores and such; katanas can be wielded two-handed with a good degree of control, but then again they're already present in the game as one-handed swords.
