A Full Fledged War!
LiamR
Okay, here's my idea.
The Corsair's and the Sunspears are at war right? So it would make sense that they actually have WARS. Not little skirmishes like the AB.. I mean dozens of NPC foes, of every proffession, in a huge wide open space, with hills, ditches, rivers, and traps.
Main Idea.
You gather a team of 12 [Or More?] in an outpost [Like The Deep + Urgoz's]. When you have the required amount, leaders hits Start Battle, you are sent to A waiting area, like AB's. With a difference. There are many, many NPC Sunspears in there with you, all itching for battle. The gates open. At this point a shout is cast on the entire team, moving you 50% faster. After a while, you see many, many Foes. Outnumbering you by far. Crap.
Your side charges forward, with the archers running up hills, casters staying a little bit back, warrior's with their shields raised. Then it begins.
The Battle
After that dramatic opening, here are the facts. Your team is dramatically outnumbered, and it's up to your team to stop the slaughter. There are fleets of enemies constantly around you, everyone taking damage, [Finnaly a good place for Ele's?] with random explosions and the like. You first have to survive for a period of time [5-10 mins?], and then, at last, help arives in the shape of 50 more allies.
Destroy Them!
Then, you and the remaining Sunspears have to destroy the Corsairs, which will be easier said than done. The monks will have to heal fast, the warriors must use all their strength, and the rangers need to be as dexterous as ever.
When you eventually kill them all, a score shows on the screen.
Remaining Sunspears :
Time Taken :
Faction Gained :
Faction Gained is based on the remaining allies and time taken.
Please evaluate what is there, not very much I know, but please use your imagination.

I love the idea!!
But instead I would like to see it more of an ongoing war for territory. I know that the bandwith and loading times would be crazy, but basically make it two teams, who both have a border on the map, and are constantly fighting for more land. I mean a never ending amount of NPC's and people just beating the hell out of each other all the time, and the "border" is controlled by where the front line on each army is.
I know that will never happen, but it would be mental if it did

This game isn't designed for massive wars. See every AoE skill ever made in GW.

mm. despite the unfeasibility, it'd be nice to see a battle where each team was composed of 8 squads (player+3 heroes) competing for control points and whatnot.

There's always Lord of the Rings, just imagine all the creatures fighting are humans and Charr.

ab.....
Please he is NOT talking about ab here guys, think outside the box. Stop talking about battles for territory and competing for control points....that is called AB.
The idea for an all out war would be fantastic, although many eles would join and kill everything right quick :P

heh, soul reaping would have to be drastically changed just for the war tho :P

Yeah, SR would have to be like.. down to 0.5 each xD
It might not happen, probably wont, but can you imagine a LOTR size war? How cool would that be.. =D @ Zinger, ele's really need a boost, so it is perfect for them. Maybe a new rule where you can't get more than 2 AOE skills in one bar for this? Also, it will showcase the powers of the dervish and the paragon, [Hit 3 targets, and shouts]

I've been wanting a full fledged war since I joined Guild Wars. I was kinda expecting, ya know, a WAR when I got the game. So here's my ideas for your idea:
How bout have it as a challenge mission? It fits the template you've already set(with the scores and whatnot). Instead of entering a certain area, perhaps its is simply one of several challenge missions, each of which will send you to a random area to fight the opposing side.
These areas are not arenas. I don't like arena style fights, but having an open area, or a semi-explorable area(like with the hills and such you mentioned) instead of an arena. This way it seems like every time you're fighting on a different front of the war.
But that's just my two cents

Not gonna happen, we dont pay subscription for their server, ANet cant facilitate big battle. And thats why this game is instanced as well. You would have to pay subscription for server maintenance like WoW to have big war like WoW's Battleground.
