All Anet staff have their names reserved, and clearly part of the name registration process is checking this list for staff names within your own. Try Jeff Strain, Mike Obrien, James Phinney etc with a random string afterwards, you'll get the same message.

On-topic, it really doesn't surprise me that they block any employee names. Otherwise we'd have a bunch of people running around with names like the OP's except they'd actually get behind it.
I wonder if they block anything containing Anet or Anerf for the same reason?

Glad they made that, it wasn't always there. I once created a character with the name "Miss Gaile Gray" and was very thankful someone told me in game it was against the rules and I deleted the character right away.

Speaking of "requests", I don't recall a request to be led to believe via a falsely-pretensed thread title that I'm clicking on what seems to be a legitimate thread about an unreasonable name block. To then only see a nonsense post about a guy trying to make a name that is either impersonating and/or intending to bring bad will upon an Anet employee. Yet despite that lack of request that's what I and other unfortunate forum goers got. Guess we're even now.

I guess I didn't count on how much of a fanboi Guru is. I just thought it was amusing that the employee names are blocked. I don't remember pretending for this to be a legitamate thread about an unreasonable name block, or even saying that the name block was unreasonable; merely amusing.
