Yes another major nerf has been handed down to us, and anoter AoE nerf noe the less. I was expecting to see thousands upon thousands of Rage Quits on this thread. Last time they nerfed AoE i remember the hundreds (superlatives FTW) of rage quits, and was expecting more of the same. I am a little disappointed about the SS nerf, and the others (espeically smart trolls, cant give you the link to the thread i forgot it), but i think it is a testament to the community how well everyone has handle it. Seems the Necro's are a bit more mature than the ele's.

Yeah but the rage quits from the last time were mostly from Ele's, and I was merely pointing out that the Necro's, whose AoE's got nerfed this time, are taking it much more rationally.

Actually, the ele's didn't rage nearly as much as the warriors did.

simple reason for that is after all the rage quits from the last nerf, the people still around are thinking "meh, we adapted to one, we'll adapt to this one"

Massive AoE nerf? You can't be serious, right? Nothing massive about it, but the return of the Elementalist as a damage dealer.

It's as it should be, though I am sad for SS, now that it is considered AoE damage.SS isn't useless, but it won't be the killing blow it was anymore.

The Necros have excepted it, I can say, better than the eles, but maybe because the necros have never had real AoE spells throught their entire profession, making them nearly useless except as a heal bot.

That would make the pope kill someone,I think.

Imagine being the be all and end all of true damage dealing, then to have that taken away by an update.

Eles were neutered (Did I spell that right?) and then were the laughing stock of the PvP world. Now they have a chance for a return to their former glory.

It's funny, that the same thing that neutralized the Ele's power now cripples the Great Necro weapon of choice among elites. Sad, but Ironic. The necro has to find a way back into the sun, just like the ele had to do.

Just happened that the Nerf Coin now falls on the Necro, making the Ele win the coin toss. We have the advantage again_

The first AoE nerf didn't really affect me at all. I got used to not casting 2 meteor showers back to back.

I still see people to this day using firestorm, and it cracks me up. They wonder why the monsters run away.

I think the general chaos of this update may have just overwhelmed people. Thus far, I've seen reports of greens loosing their mods, people able to strip mods from unidentified golds, and a lot of general confusion. Also, I think people are getting a better grasp on the relative futility in expecting a build that will remain effective indefinitely. Anyone who held this as a priority would have long since been alienated by prior updates.

It's easier for necros to accept because the class is so versatile that there are lots of other good roles for them to play. Taking away eles ability to nuke really did limit the interesting or useful options, imo.

Are you saying that eles have the advantage over necros now? I'm glad for the much needed buffs to eles as it will make playing mine a whole lot more enjoyable, but I'd still much rather play my necro even if I never (which is doubtful) get to use SS again. I don't see ele as preferable over necro even now. They sure don't have an advantage with me. Or if they do, I just don't see it yet.

After the update, I went on a FoW run and did my Echo SS with a group. The warrior set the aggro and held it, and SS worked like it always did.

So I am not sure what all the excitement is about, it seems to me with the exception of two-man UW runs, everything is as at was. SS works fine, does the same amount of damage, and maybe the monsters react a little differently, but hey, an adjustment here, a tweak there, and it is the same as it ever was.

The problem for SS necros is the belief that SS necros are useless that will get in the way of them contributing to the team.

Necros are hardly made useless just because one elite has been pseudo-nerfed (SS didn't make trolls in the talus chute troll cave scatter when I tested it.)

I like this update a lot, overall.

I've been reading threads off and on all day. It's mainly the UW farmers that are screaming. Their main statement seems to be that ANet hates farming as if they were the only farmers in the game.

Other necros that game in groups say they are not having any problems. If foes break aggro due to too much damage, when they re-attack monsters target whoever is currently dealing them damage. Easy to lead them to player you want them to target.

Problem with UW 2-man groups is that only gives monsters one choice.

yeah i excpet that i need really to diversify and change, and probably this update was a blesing in disguises. I've just be running MM and SS builds for the past few months, and it's starting to get boring, so a change will rpbably do me good. I've always wanted to try a mesmer, I have started several in the past, but could just bring myself to put in the work to get them to level 20. Janus Orpheo is on his way back.
