A new method for sharing builds (you dont need to type them out anymore)
awesome sauce
Alright, with the new template feature, there is now officially an easier way to share builds other than typing them out. When you save your templates, it creates a text document in the C:\program files\guild wars folder. It is in the templates then skills folder. When you want to share a build, just go there and copy/paste the information onto your thread in these forums. Then, anyone who wants to use that build can simply copy the information and paste it into a new file in the same folder. For instance, here's my spirit bond monk build: ATNhbfM0G5h+4hUPMIaRASIB. Just go to C:\program files\guild wars templates then skills folder, create and copy that into a new document, and assuming you have all the skills....it should appear under your skills when you open the game. You can also do this for equipment templates by pasting new information into the templates then "equipment" folder.

hmm i'ma check that out right now, good find if it works :P

Yeah used that in HA today with some friends. Really useful to just give everyone their build.

very very bad thing
"tell me your build or kick"
"no echo nuker? omfg n00b n3rd cu" -> kick

Apparently I worded the title wrong.... and apparently thats all you guys read. I was trying to explain a new method of sharing templates on this forum, not the new in-game ctrl click feature.
Clord
I play in european server with Assassin and nobody ask my build and I usually get to PUG party nearly instantly when I appear to district.
Anyway this is easy to use template system and very useful feature.

So,now you guys think that you should kick a guy with a different build than you would play with because you don't like the build?
It's funny to hear elitist comments from PvE people, when they hate HA because of the exact same thing. Please, people, don't become hypocritical.
The PUG is what it is. It's a pick up group, people you don't know playing together to achieve a common goal.
If a guy doesn't have a clue of what he/she is doing, then tell them your opinion before kicking them. If they won't listen, then you have a choice...

Ctrl + left mouse click on skill bar, announces your skill line up. just like you would announce what weapon you are using.

But not about kick everyone... now you can see bad builds and help pugs with it... no more frenzy heling signets warriors... no more elementarists with 4 elements spells... no more monks with useless skills... rangers with degene skills in areas with bo flesh foes... mm with only 1 type of minion and no minion heal skills... ... "hey man change it... ...very bad skills"...
And anyway...
Pega Aki: My energy is 234 of 234.
Pega Aki: My health is 34000 of 34000.
Pega Aki: My equipped skills are Ecto Rain, Shard Rain, Platiniun Rain, Keys Rain, All Good Stuff is Mine, Broken my Emenys Legs, Error 007 in X Player and Rez Myself.
How many times i laught with it... My energy is 300 of 300... and the pugs say you is cheating lol lol lol lol
Well now you can see bad builds and help others to make better builds... and the better >>>>>>>> see good builds <<<<<<<<< or you think your build is ever the best? how many times >noobs< kick me from partys because i dont use a skill that a warrior think is the best for a elem?...
Welll... now you can kick a noob or be kicked by a noob... lol...
Amity and Truth
Just one minor bug with it, the window where you name the file doesn't yet follow the strict rules for saving files. Let's say you call your Build E/R Obsidian Tank.
GW lets you type that but logically a file with that name won't be possible.

It would be interesting if someone could figure out how the code for the templates works.
Fistandantulus
from what it looks like, you can type illegal characters in the file name in gw, but it takes them out when it saves it, so mo/r becomes mor

*Edit: That is to say, if you were joining up a team and they wanted you to run something specific, they could give you the precise build in its entirety more quickly, and more simply.
---
2nd Edit:
Example-
Team Leader "Could you roll a [Insert Build] for me?"
Player "I have the skills, but I'm not sure what would work best..."
Team Leader "That's ok, here, try this one;
Primary Profession - [Insert Profession]
Skills/Attributes - [Insert Skills Code]
Equipment - [Insert Equipment Code]
*Player creates 2 text documents, pastes the 2 codes, rolls the primary, loads the templates, and is now the exact desired build.*
Player "Cool, thanks ^^"
Team Leader "Np. Let's go!"
-End-
All you need to convey a complete build is a primary profession, and 2 lines of code. You could list it off in one line of text in the chat box in Guild Wars through this.

On the topic of the templates, which is what this thread is suppose to be about... Can you believe some of my guildies were complaining about it!!! They were going on and on about how stupid it was to have a nice simple method for sharing builds... I logged off TS after that. Didn't need to hear anymore.
Two April Mornings
I love this idea.
CyberMesh0
As do I... someone just has to figure out how to code it. I've tried with such things as hex editors to even change one skill using logical replacement and I can't get anywhere.
Akhilleus
it has its upsides and downsides.
cookiecutter builds will be even more eavily instituted, but at the same time, its quite useful for friends to share legitimatly unique builds for purposes of experimentation/learning.
virtually everything has good and bad consequences, its just a matter of realizing them.

edit-
if you do have a list of all the possible templates, is there a way for me to get the entire list so i can figure out how they coded it, or even better if someone that knows, if there is such a person, could explain it to me sometime?
