AoE nerf- "à la Blizzard" move?

While this is my first post in here, Ive been playing Guildwars for 5 months, and gone hardcore in game for the last 2 months and start farming heavly.

Many ppl will say solo/duo farm isnt the purpose of the game, that the game should be played with 8 players parties and whatnot.

But solo/duo farming is boring and its hardwork, and many times expensive and frustrating.

I think solo/duo farming is part of the game.

And now lets see the AoE nerf.

1st it seems to be something to make PvE harder, by reducing the efectiveness of AoE skills, but is it?

Sure monsters scatter a bit more, but things like SS and Ele nukes still do damage (just hope players henches scatter like that).

Most interesting was what happened when I was in old ascalon with a fellow guildmate. He was a warrior, I was with a Monk. We went out only the 2 of us, and met some grawls. The grawls shamans just run the entire map fleeing from my Warrior mate, no matter he spriting.

Oddly we went there after, with 2 henches, and the AI behaviour was completly different.

A second example was the farm run I did for IDS. Regular melee and ranger monsters behaviour was the same, but the avicara mesmers simply didnt lose contact with me, dispite the fact I used sprint. If I turned to attack them, they just kited at incredible speeds.

You see the pattern here.

You are unable to play areas without a complete or quasi complete party.

Then you have nightfall, introducing Heroes, fully customizable partners, that have inventories. More you can use them in any campgain.

I havent found any references to it, but i bet YOU GET YOUR HEROES PARTNERS LOOT.

This remind me of what happened when Blizzard launch the Lord of Destruction, and Introduced heavy resistences/hp in Nightmare/Hell mosters, making impossible to play those areas without the new items from LoD.

It seems a deja vu, especially considering who are the leaders of anet.

Yeah the running thing has hit be as kinda funny....I was playing with my cousin earlier and we had a whole group bug on us. (Like 10 guys) and they would run away from us no matter how fast we tried to get to them, sometimes we could get a few hits off both they run to fast...The wierdest thing was they didn't attack either....they just followed right outside of aggro range...was very wierd.

i haven't tried mineral springs nor the grawl areas, but fow and uw are a completely different story.

the mobs just all run straight for the warrior, even if a caster aggro's them, as long as the war is in an overlapping circle they all converge on the warrior.
then you nuke them and they're packed so tightly they all die lol. single mobs seem to tend to run sometimes, but a whole group of them? it's laughably pathetic.

pve seems seriously broken. fow/uw are too ridiculously easy even the monks are completely bored. i hope they fix it

Nah Blizzard would've dropped the bomb about AoE nerf AFTER RELEASE thus getting the money of gold farmers first.

The founders of Anet left Blizzard, because they saw what the company had become under Vivendi (at least that's my take on it).

I don't see what some people who prefer to solo are complaining about... you have uber henchies now.

Oh... and IBTL cause there's a million posts about the AoE changes already.

lol what an interesting mob...

didn't happen to me tho... just whilst doing sanctum cay mission, the servant (ele) kites whenever henchie warr closes in on her...

making pve alot more exciting, and i like it...

Yeah, I was trying a solo run in mineral springs (I dont have an IDS, and since they ll probably be removed from game, I was trying to get one before that) with a Def W/Mo, and the avicara necros and mesmers, just dont lose aggro to me, no matter how fast I sprint/charge, u name it! It was very funny, i was stipped at a corner with mending up, and the 2 little mesmers buggers just cast ineptitude and 1 or more hex, not even attacking. The cool stuff is that warrior and ranger avicaras dont do that and will lose aggro to you when you sprint. I guess casters are more intelligent...

When I attacked them they just make the best kitting Ive ever seen, and I dont remember avicara mesmers having sprint...

But yeah if you are in a party they just focus on the tank. If you can shutdown the mob healers (wich will do kittings that embarass many players), with spikes/interrupts/knocks, your party is safe.

Its just stupid. I guess we should begin to get those PvP shock warriors and Energy denial mesmers to our PvE...

The game isnt supposed to be about grinding, they shut down farming because its grinding (although the most rare items are just as good as a costum weapon/basic armor), but now you have to do party farming wich is slower, so you get to waste much MORE TIME FARMING. If that isnt grinding...

so true, they promise less grind but the new AI behaviour makes grinding worse, not less.

sometimes its best not to tweak what isn't broken.

I farmed for my 15k with troll killing...


however, farming is easy mode and has nothing to do with what this game is about. challange, teamplay, and tactical gameplay.


I don't know how Anet expect people though to get all the money for 15k and FoW now though.



OP: No. the player dont get their heroes loot. it works like it does with henchmen.
