The avicara spell casters chase relentlessly over vast amounts of space and are almost impossibe to shake. Let me rephrase that, they ARE impossible to shake. And if you try to attack them they just retreat. I've noticed tho that if you hit them with a bow they wont go retreat but they have a monk with them (evertime i've tried anyway) and its hard to kill him cause he uses soj. A ranger might be able to still solo em but thats only if your lucky and they dont have a mes with them, cause if it they do then its game over (ineptitude). The only time I've had only 2 after me (a monk and a necro) was when a guildie died to hold off the others chasing, at which point i was able to ignore them but it was a crappy spawn and i died, bringing another monk and a mes along for the ride when i ran back to the cave. If anyone else is experiencing anything different or has a way to maybe kill the avicara, please post.

Same problem with skales on a totem run, and you can kill them except there's about 20...!

Then the stupid pods won't quit running and you have to trap them before you can hit them... hopefully they'll change this cause it's getting dumb.

if they do not stop chasing you, it means they're trying to cast something.
just let em cast, and run.

What he said, they are usually trying to cast Deathly Swarm. Stop. Let them cast it, then run. Works for me..

well it WORKED for me too but not anymore. They cast their swarm 4+ times and still follow you while you sprint away. I guess Anet will fix this one day because it's just stupid AI doing the wrong thing.

yea it used to be be that they were trying to cast something but the monk also follows with the other casters so its not that. i really do hope that anet fixes this cause its jsut getting ridiculous.

They should never catch up to you since you have sprint and charge.

they will keep following even when you run out of aggro range.

you can't fight them with a sword/axe equipped. they'll run away as soon as you run towards them. then run back to you and cast non-stop as soon as you try to run away. like flies they are.

I went to the imp cave with two henches, a monk and a necro, when i pulled the casters away from the rest of the mob, i just let my henches kill them while they casted away on me. i just stood there until they died.

later i took a ele friend with me to kill the casters while i solo'd anything else that we couldn't run away from.

it's only the casters that you can't shake. the avicara warriors and archers will stop chasing you once you get out of aggro range.

There are two avicara that chase you. Directly after the giants and the resurect shrine there is a group with the boss. Two avicara from this group will chase you to no end , and just try and kill them :P

they really should un-"fix" this...it's getting annoying. Just repeal the recent anti-farming/pro-dervish nerf and let us use dot aoe again freely lol.

I had the same problem with Skeleton Bonds during an FoW Forest trip. Accidently agroed there group... ran off, Skeleton Bonds chased me. I stopped, there group charged. I ran off to the forest well out of the groups range... the 2 Skeleton Bonds just ran back and forth for the majority of the farming trip behind me.
If i turned to try and kill them they'd run off... then come back again a minute or 2 later!
I eventually just gave up and cleared the forest... but the Bonds never attacked me once, just ran back and forth, extremely annoying.

What exactly could they of been trying to cast on me? Life Bond?

Did some IDS runs with two other warrs..usual warr IDS build...did the usual running. Avi's followed of course..sometimes we made it to the chute by the giants..sometimes we didnt. Worked off dp with the giants and pushed on. Unfortunately, what has to happen is someone has to be a scarifice..We ran thru with 2 avi following made the turn towards the cave and one of us got mobbed keeping the avi's with him. Two of us made the cave and cleared. No IDS. Another run same way but when one guy got mobbed 2 avi left him and followed us in the cave. I just stood in mouth and avi stayed with me. I actually cornered one where he couldn't run away and started hitting him. Once he through ineptitude on me I was dead by next swing. My partner ran in cave and cleared until he died. Again no IDS. So it is still possible. Forget Solo though.

it is extremely hard to shake it off. but there is a way.
personally. i use 55 monk to farm ids, so DP never really affects me much. what i do is i run all the way to the entrance to the ice imp cave, aggroing even the usual avicaras that subside there. now i have 4 of them chasing me (2 from the original boss area, and usually 2 more from near the cave) sometimes having as much as 3 guiles on at me at once. they obviously strip my HB, holy viel and PS, so all i do is recast PS, then run down the hill. the chasing aviacaras will follow, run as deep as u can until you die. hopefully, with sprint and rush. you can make it pass the dwarvern collector there and even across the bridge. if so. the 4 chasing avicaras will not come back and instead be "stuck" there. after i rez, i go back to the entrance of the cave. but without the chasers, u can sprint/rush pass even those other avicaras who are relatively close to the imp.

The new nerf actually improves the economy because now stuff actually worth more than crap and you stop hearing people go "OMG ANOTHER CRAPPY GREEN!"

for why the prices have gone down, its because there's much less farming so people sell the rare items knowing the price will only get lower which sets them even lower. This I suppose is the reason there is a double dye weekend to get them and auto sell to a dye trader, I suppose you could say they are trying to control the economy say a guild wars inflation.

Rares sold --> Traders = Lower Price And Inflation in terms of how much the money is worth.

I do see this as an improvement as joey average could be able to afford an ecto if he needed it. Although I do miss farming money to unlock skills but take the good with the bad

Umm, so why did the price of pretty much everything, from ectos to rago's staff, go down in price? Because most people do not understand Supply and Demand.

It's much harder to farm now, so as soon as someone get a good rare item, they try to sell it. Now why they want to do that is understandable. The price is higher than what they had before so they sell it now thinking they get a better profit. That, however, is a loss, because if they wait patiently for the price to continue to go up, they can sell it for more.

As for dye weekend:
Most people would stock up on dye and sell them to people ASAP. Then as prices drop, they sell it to traders because there is an increase in SUPPLY.
The smart person would wait for some time for the Supply to go back down (might take forever, you never know), then sell the dyes for the prices that were there before the event, thus netting them gold.

If you know the price is increasing, don't sell, wait till the price hit a decent amount so you can get more. It sounds like an easy and "duh" concept, but most people get happy when they found something rare and tries to sell it right away because it's price is higher than what they are used to because the price is continuously increasing. They think that the price will drop, which unless there is an event planned ahead or a very good farming build for it, the price will usually stablize or go up.

If you remember when Factions released, prices on everything droped then as well. Everything drops for like a month with the release of a new game because there are less people buying things as they are all busy playing. The quantity is still there as it has not been sold off but the damand will be low for about a month.

After that as demand starts to rise with the new AI limiting supply, the prices will likely increase probably by about 10% is my guess as faming in general seems to take 10% longer.

NOTE: Items that are no longer farmable will increase much more than that.

Well I have not done an IDS run in ages so not sure what all has changed up there since the update. I guess I will have to dust off my warrior and set him up with my IDS build and give it a go.

In the past I have never used Charge and Sprint to get to the cave as I liked to kill everything I could going up there. So I would run through Tasca's Demise. I then fight my way up from there getting the drops along the way. The only groups I do not kill are the Avicara with the mesmers in the group and boss groups. I can take out everything else with the build that I have used.

Will test out my build this weekend and report back how it all goes.

Most people want to get the best weapon on their chars before playing them (really weird -.-), so a lot of people get one of their old characters to finish the game first, farm/buy items, and then play new characters.

i figured a way u can, you can either fight the whole way there with henches, which would take forever, and then when u get there, order henches off screen so they dont take ur drops.

prolly the faster way is run up to the res shrine right before the giants and die there so ur resed with ur henches and only have to fight from there to the cave, and then when u get there, order them offscreen.

I tried testing out something with the new age solo monk and a warrior runner ( to lazy to get through tascas demise whatsit ), when I reached the avicara the ardent and wise kept chasing me, the ardent didnt do anything, but the wise casted phantom pain. My friend used charge to keep me running but they kept following so he broke off from me and i headed toward the ice imp cave, and they still followed me to the last imp. well not to the last imp the azure things popped up and pwned me

So the fact that minutes after the massive nerf to farming people (who weren't posting on guru whining about it) were finding solutions to it, coming up with plausable solutions and also possible solutions, thus proving that farming isn't nerfed afterall and is no harder than originally thought so prices don't actually increase at all in the long run would also explain why people sell items the moment they get them?

People adapt, its not hard to farm bosses, however short sighted you obviously are. Just because the '55' got 'nerfed doesn't mean the entire of GW is screwed.

holy cow this was hard. haven't done in a while. well i soloed it but took a good hour or two and 5000 some deaths.

a bit hard to break aggro or kill them when they follow. A-net Plasse fix the AI for the monster. 1 group followed from the 2nd rez shine to the ice cave!!!

oh well life goes on.....

I had a sudden burst to want an IDS 2 days ago, so I went to farm one and brought 7 Henchies with me, they kept agro away from me, and i was able to make them stand far enough away so I get all the drops. I didn't get a sword though

Have to say sorry that I have not posted here. I have not had the chance to dust off my warrior to see if I could do it yet. I have gotten tied up with other things ingame and out of game. Hopefully will be able to test it out here soon.

When I do I will let you all know.
