weve followed arrows kills mobs, got to north gate and nothing happends. Tried it twice now.

Opened for me. Killed all the scouts around the perimeter, and then it only opened after I backed away a fair distance from the left gate.

Done it at last, Ignore the stupid green arrows pointing you to north gate, you need to go far north and wipe out a camp with scouts. Then it will be open.

I wanderd about killing all enemie groups but still gate closed.

I had the same problem, there were two enemies just inside the gate on the northern side. You can attack them through the wall. After killing them the gate on the southern side opened for me. Hope it helps.

lol glade I'm not the only one that this has happend to. Did what I was told and gate didn't open. So out of spit of the glitch I killed every thing on that map (zone) and then decided to go see if it was open and guess what it wasn't. lol after I did all that I read the quest log and serched for every name it said since it said koss had a deal with a boat. But I was wrong no mini boat to get me to that open door that you can't reach. Well thats my story on that quest I'll be trying again in a little bit.

yesterday we got it done, still don't know how it happened, we got owned by a mob, and then after rezzing in shrine gates were open, still we wandered around for a while before the mob thing

I have this quest active myself, but i havent looked to see if there was a certain hero requirement to get it to work yet or not. Several other quests and missions require a particular hero or another to have them work. Is this something that is being overlooked or undocumented? It simply wouldnt make sense to have a door trigger randomly between different groups of people. It would make some sense if it had something to do with varied party compositions though.

Had to do it twice yesterday - first time the gates stayed closed - second time they opened.

Same problem here, but the gate opened when I restarted the quest. This is definately a bug.

Happens to me , i spend maybe 20 minutes to open the doors lol
I think the quest doesnt work well, but the thing to do is from the door where the bridge are kill the ppl you can inside (1 or 2) and try to attack or get the attention of the boss mob and back to the bridge. The doors should open after a cpl of try

the gates worked fine when i did the quest, but that 170 damage barrage boss needs a nerf..... (on max dervish armor

I think it's a glitch, I was doing it with my brother and we had the same problem you guys did. But we just and eliminated all of the monsters, came back, and the doors finally opened.
However, when I did it with a guildie they opened right then and there =\.

i didnt even kill everything in the area, I just killed the 2 bosses, alot of oother mobs were alive, opened for me

If you read Guildwiki's report on the quest it says that it is currently bugged, it gives some suggestions but as of yet i cannot get in, done everything but no gate.

Five times I've tried this today and five times the gates haven't opened! Just how the hell are you supposed to progress when one of the Primary quests is so bugged?
Is there any news that ANet plan on fixing this bug? I want to carry on and get further into the game.

Just wondering, for the people who it has not worked for, did you have heros in your party? Could be a solution. Ill try it after, cause it didnt work for me either.

I have cleared the entire room/map/area, killed 2 NMEs inside the walls too. Tried it with 2 diffferent hench/hro groups. Both main gates remain closed, no way I can find to reach the open gate on NE side, tried the boats.

yes this quest is currently bugged. First time, didn't work, second time I tried a different path (wiped out corsairs coming from the east the first time then from the north the second), and I had the same hero/hench team both times

Thought I'd post here right quick...
I failed this quest 3 times, never got the doors to open despite killing EVERYTHING and waiting almost 2 hours. Just went back one more try and it worked. All I did was run straight towards the arrow after leaving from the command post (some fighting along the way but not deviating from the path except the one hill you cannot cross over). For that i went to the left, talked to the NPC then curved right towards the western bridge. Killed every Corsair between there and the gate, then the arrow moved to the north. I crossed as close to the castle as I could, killed 3-4 groups of Corsairs from there to the gate and it opened. I never went up north to the settlements and only killed 15-20 vermin.
Just thought I'd share what worked for me.

Hey guys, I attempted the quest 2wice and got it to work 2nd time.
Me and my friend decided to kill only the guards that were located where the green stars were on the map and ignored everything else. We killed the 2 guard groups and the northern door opened.
I believe the quest said something about luring the general out by killing those two guard groups and thats what I did. Hope that helps you guys. GL.

Try killing all the mobs to the N of the fort first, then the mobs to the W. Don't aggro the mobs inside til the gate opens. This worked for me.
edit: it opened the W door for me, point worth making after reading above post
Not aggroing crap inside the fort could maybe be the key.

I know I'm a n00b and all but aggro'ing the guys inside has nothing to do with it. The gates opened long before i was even close to aggroing the interior once I killed the patrols in the correct order (according to arrows and stars). See my second post in this thread above.

This is how I got it to work finally.

Ok, if I remember this one correctly there is a mob in front of the main gate and a small mob on the side. To get the gate open, you first have to take out the mob on the side. This will trigger the gate to be unlocked. Go to the front gate, take out that mob, and then head in the castle.
