Is anyone with the soundtrack having problems with the music triggering in game?

All of the previous music is working but the Nightfall tracks aren't. I've tried everything to figure this out.

Are you getting the 'error message' on the music symbol?

If so, I had to re-install ALLLLLL my paks to get it to work properly.

When you say all your paks what do you mean?

Uninstall and re-install guild wars? Or just remove the folder with all of my directsong material?

I just posted this in another thread:

***
I registered at directsong, got the download, installed it, let it run, and it comes to this screen that says 'wait a moment and then click play.'
Play stays greyed out for over a half hour, and I finally close it, giving up on that.
I then went to the folder I put the music in and double click one of the songs and they just open in windows media player 'in red' and I get some error message saying 'unknown error'...
***

Is this the same problem you folks are talking about?

No, The tracks work fine.

I'm talking about that they are NOT triggering in game.

All of my previous DS music works. Just not the Nightfall music.

Well, for me, the tracks won't work at all. Frustrating...

Do I need a special version of Media Player or something along those lines? I'm on 10.

I have the Guild Wars Battle Pak, the Sorrow's Furnace pak, the Factions CE, and the Nightfall CE.

Everything was working fine until I installed the Nightfall CE and then I got the 'error message' over the sound symbol.

I re-ran the installation files for all my paks to get things working right.

However, I haven't actually taken any time to figure out if I'm playing new content or not.

I had this problem in factions. Turns out, I had to buy the DS factions soundtrack in order for the music to work properly. Anet needs to fix this glitch.

EDIT:
I ran it again, but THIS time I played the .asx file in the folder afterwards. Now it plays in game.

And to see if its playing in game, under the options in the sound section there is a DS symbol. When its glowing gold, that's how you know that its working.

It took 6 times to make that crap play in game. And the Halloween triggers seem to be making it glitch out of playing. So the game switches back to the standard rate music sometimes.

Okay, until recently I had the same problems. I have both the CE music and the Original Soundtrack from Nightfall downloaded, and both didn't play in the game (they played fine out of the game in Windows Media Player 10).

The solution for me was to re-run the downloader again , and install in the same location (this way you won't waste another license). But this time I installed CE music first and Original Soundtrack last, and now it works. I believe the ingame playlist file for the CE Music, that gets installed when you run the downloader, is the problem.

Therefore my advice is, whatever you do, install the Original Soundtrack of Nightfall last, and it should work.

I did that have CE Music D/L'd then tried D/L'ing and doing all the stuff for the Original Soundtrack, and I still get the error. Maybe merge the two into the CE Soundtrack, or overwrite the CE playlist in the folder with the Original playlist?

I had to go through a Windows Update to get the files to play, but I still don't see them playing -in game-.

Do I have to run the asx file before I run GW everytime I load it up?

What's the 'Original Soundtrack'? Something else I need to buy and then download?

My problem with the Nightfall Soundtrack was that after installing it, the yellow warning icon would appear and none of the DirectSong tracks would play in game. Nightfall, Factions, Prophecies, none of them would work.

I wrote about it to DirectSong and they gave me this reply, which also helped me to fix my problem:

We updated the file ds_GuildWars.dll when Nightfall shipped. It is possible that the new version is incompatible with your computer setup.

Here is a link to the original one.

Please download and unzip the file into your DirectSong folder and see if that corrects this.

Looks like it works. Thanks.
