Is it just me or is Nightfall....

WAY BETTER THEN FACTIONS =) Factions was a waste of time nightfall is awesome good job!! and the new chars are fun unlike the Aassasin and Ritualist
Diablo???
It indeed is... way better!
Cyclades of Knossos
Despite the bugs, and I seem to be finding all of 'em ;P, I'm finding this MUCH more enjoyable than Factions so far.
[Mediocrity]
I kinda agree...factions wasn't bad but it wasn't great...allaince battles are nice, faster paced campain....but assasins were really lame and un-creative.
Ritualists are fun.
Ritualists are fun.
DeathByBowtie
Even with all the bugs I'm having a blasty. I sorta expected it to be buggy (the WPE prepared me for that :P), and I figure they should have it all straightened out in a week or so, but until then, it's still pretty awesome.

it owns it....so bad....

Come on guys, don't hate on Factions so much. I think it deserves a mulligan since it's obvious it was started with the intention of being an Expansion, it shows.
The missions were fun, areas were great (Kaineng City and Echovald), and the classes/skills were nice.
Nightfall better? Perhaps, but Factions was good too.

Indeed rits were fun.
But I won't decide which is better, because neither is better than the other.

I find Nightfall to be much easier than Factions was... Actually almost too easy IMO. I dunno, I had a tough time with some of the battles/missions in Factions and am able to fly in Nightfall... I think Nightfall looks prettier, but as far as actual gameplay, I feel Factions was more of a challenge.
Clawdius_Talonious
I enjoyed Factions immensely, then again I know Kaineng city as well as or better than anyone.
Kool Pajamas
I liked Factions. I'd like to be able to level a little faster in Nightfall.

that is the one thing that annoys me about Factions, is the instant level 20 almost.... I loved the way Prophecies went down and how it took you a long time to get there.. it adds character and depth to the game!

PS: Factions was whack in PvE, PvP protion was pure genius
and u guessed it, NF owns PvE, new skills dont hurt though(for all PvP players that may complain).

I didn't mind Factions it was interesting although the storline wasn't that great. It made you more sharp on learing your skills more the ending by far was the best part of the game it made you like a hero. There is one thing I don't like about NightFall and that is with my Tyrian chars haveing to go to the beginning Island instead of the Mainland like Factions.
awelcomecomatose
yep. It definitely is
Eviance
personally I found the storyline for Factions quite lame, but so far I am lapping up each ounce of NF.... Maybe its because Factions was so hyped that it went down so badly, I dunno... NF just seems more "whole".
I've been avoiding most spoilers like the plague, with Factions I got the spoilers IN the storyline as I went, it was unavoidable with the fortune teller chick -_-
So all in all I think even if Factions hadn't been so hyped up and such it still would have fallen behind NF in my eyes, but thats just my opinion I guess.
GJ Team GWP and GWN! (yes I know they are the same)

Nightfall owns Factions in all aspects for me so far. Factions you could just rush through easily and thewre wasn't much incentive to stick around in an area, but Nightfall just makes you want to hang around a city and complete all the side-quests etc.

personally i liked Factions PvE, and i dont really ever PvP!
sure it was quick, which kinda sucked, but it had a kind of story id never seen and i thus liked it
IMO Assassin's were a bit predictable, althought I find them a little useless.
Rits rock - the new monks ^_^
The Nightfall story seems a bit usual, big bad god wants revenge heroes step in to save the world - big whoop.
Shiro wasnt a god, nothing near till he became an Envoy. And instead of getting revenge it was about a warrior who went crazy and ended up killing the emporer in a moment of madness, i liked that!
And both Nightfall's classes seem cool to me.
So
Neither Win IMO ^_^

it also has some pretty cool armours too.

Yes Nightfall ftw! It has the whole Prophecies feeling again. Fighting the undead again, and being in Elona. Somehow I feel 'at home' in Elona. When I'm in Cantha I think 'I gotta get my @$$ out of this filthy city'.
And also there's alot of freedom again. I actually love it to go exploring in Elona. I haven't found a world map yet so who know's what's out there, I just found 2 new outposts today

So far, I like Nightfall way more than the other two, and I like Factions way more than Prophecies, so it seems ArenaNet is learning from their mistakes and greatly improving each time!
As for Factions sucking, Factions was a really good game. Ya, it had the rit, which wasn't the best of classes, and ya, it was really short if you just did the main storyline, but it was still really good. It had the assassin, which is still the funnest, most creative, and most different class out of all of them so far (IMO), and it had way more to do than Prophecies. In fact, more than 3/4 of it was lvl 20 content, which is when the game is the funnest.
But even though Factions was really good, Nightfall still is better so far (except for the grinding of sunspear points -_-). Just the heros alone seem to be enough to make it better than the other too!

Funny thing is, not alot of players enjoyed Factions that much but it still sold better than the First Chapter. On top of that they hit 2million sold copies. Now everyone is very impressed with Nightfall. cant wait to see how this chapter sells. Maybe they will hit 3 or 4 millions customers. More people to play with!!!
Domino
The Assassin is a fun class to play. So is the Ritualist.
As far as I'm concerned... lackluster PvE aside, those two classes were worth the price tag alone.

If you've finished any chapter before, then nightfall does become easy because you have the feel for making good builds which work with a party, and since in NF you can totally make the heroes to your liking, thats like woah.
Now I took my sin through NF first cause I enjoy playing a sin, and the only time I had to rethink my (and heroes) build was in the realm of torment area, before then I worked off builds which I've worked before, which worked even better with the customisation of heroes.
So, for us die hard fans, yes NF is easy, I bet if you did factions over again it would be easy too (and yes it is =p). But! for new players, which i'm hoping nightfall attracts a few, yes NF will be more of a challenge for them.
And I'm going to have to agree on the predictability of Good vs Evil in NF. Factions had a different touch which I enjoyed.
They're both good, but I slightly prefer NF just because of the Junundu!

I only play PvE...... and I like all of them!
The only thing that really don't like are the need of collecting factions and sunspears (spl.?) points! I wished that in NF the skills were given as a reward for quests as in Prophecies.
Oh well I cannot have all!

i dont even have NF yet, and i may never.
however, ive had more fun READING about nightfal than i did PLAYING factions.

I like Nightfall MUCH better than Factions when it comes to the explorable areas. Some areas of Factions were about as fun as hammering a nail into my forehead.
However, I wish I didn't have to dig into my own pocket to equip heroes with runes/weapons. At the very least there should be alternate ways to get them stuff than collectors/just buying it yourself. Also, Insignias, while a great idea, has completely discouraged me from getting Elonian armor for any of my characters besides my Paragon and Dervish.

I like Nightfall for the story, character design for the new classes and NPCs and the new cut scences (never though i would ever say all this) The game is well paced and very involved and most important highly creative in design for both quest and missions.
But there was also several issues with AI problems, some bugs, missing quest links and locations not yet completed.
But all in all, Nightfall is definetly a big improvement over factions and if this is any indication of the future Chapters of Guildwars, we will be looking at a line/series that will be remembered and successful for many many years to come.
Good job Anet.
Edit: (I practice equal praise or critic depending on issues so dont be surprise i am not so nice to Anet in other threads-for those who care.)

Faction for the speed. It's 4 the win!

Nightfall is indeed superior to Factions. I would expect it to be as a successor. However, the Ritualist is by far the best class addition to the game. Anet out-did themselves on the creation of these guys.
They may not sit in the 'holy trinity' of tank-healer-nuker but they are with out doubt, the most interesting and versatile class in the game. One for the thinkers out there...

There are only two things that make factions worth having: the alliance battles, and the quick jump over from LA to get max armor to finish out the Prophecies story-line with. Those are the only 2 things I'll ever go back there for.
There isn't anything, PvE wise that is better in factions. Story-line? Nightfall has the best one yet. Gotta love how your character is immersed in the events, and not just along for the ride. And so far, no fingernails-on-the-chalkboard voices. The areas that you find yourself in (so far that I've seen) are simply incredible. Coastal villages, fortresses, wide open savanahs - what's not to like? I don't know much about Ritualists, but the Asssassin in the wrong hands is a terrible profession. Sadly, there's too many "wrong hands" that that profession fell into.
factions lovers can keep their foul, crowded city; their dark and dreary forest, and their congealed liquid landscape. They can keep the screeching Danika and their sad story line.

also the storyline in prophecies was too predictable to be enjoyable. i only go to tyria to cap elites for builds im trying out, and even then i try to limit the trips bc of how boring it is. Factions story was straightforward, but interesting and the cinematics were very well done imo.

I like Nightfall a lot, even though I'm still starting it. But I like to look at the whole picture, having alll three games in one account. Now the game hardly even feels linear to me. Whenever I log on, I have so many options to choose from in what to do. I can interact with people in outposts for kicks(with Halloween items), catch up on capping elite skills, go for some more fame points, work on my Dervish, play Nightfall with my main character, work on my treasure and wisdom titles, faction farm for my Steward of the Kurzicks title, finish the last couple Tyrian missions for my protector title, help some new gamers, check out the trade at LA and Kaineng, do Tombs, do UW, do FoW, see what greens and other things to put on my Heros, or who knows what else. Plus the occasional events. I doubt I'll ever run out of things to do in GW.
