Golem, Fiends, BoTm, Rez.
Another Varient is: Golem, Horrors, BoTm, Death Nova, Rez. (Horrors take some time to run up to the battle, but He DOES Death Nova dying ones, meaning he can minion bomb without your support)
Once you get Jagged Bones you can go: Jagged, Fiends, BoTm, Rez. Or something similar.
The point being in each that a simple few skills is always better than trying to trick out his bar just to get 8 skills.
The fewer skills the better the Hero IMO. Less chance for them to do stupid stuff.
Dont give him:
An offensive Spell - He will then tend to just use that spell instead of raising Minions..I made the mistake of giving him Deathly Swarm once.
Heal Area - He has AI that controls his usage of BoTm (so he wont spam it and kill himself like some are afraid he would) but he doesnt have smart AI for usage of Heal Area. He'll use it when enemies are on him..He'll stop while you are walking to use it when all his minions arent even around him..etc
An alternative is to give him BiP and points in Blood too if you dont have/like Golem. If you are afraid of Suicide with two sac skills just disable the BiP and use it yourself through hero control. But I've found that NPCs really watch Sac skills now and are careful, just test.

I got Magrid - Couldn't leave Kormir behind.
On the plus side, you can go back and get the other once you're done apparently.

For a minion master, don't waste your time with the bone golem; wasting an elite on having one super-minion is just not worth it.
Devote 4 skills to death, which is all you really need to be quite effective, and then put the rest of his skills in something that will be useful to the party. I went with 16 death, 11 blood, 9 soul reaping, and:
Bone Fiend
Bone Horror
Death Nova
Blood of the Master
Offering of Blood {elite}
Order of Pain
Rez Signet
{Free slot}
Use a lot of physical attackers (especially AOE, such as dervishes, or warriors with triple chop + cycle axe).

You want to know the secret to a good Hero MM build?
Interrupts. (Leech Signet and Power Drain)
Heroes are really good at multi-tasking. Although my Olias seems to like to interrupt non-spells with Leech Signet...
