Guild Training for Serious level PvP

This is more of an enquiry

We all know that it's a pain to recruit new players, especially when you are starting out as a fledging PvP guild. There are loads of threads talking about how to recruit people, but what if you already have them and just need to get them practicing and getting better as quickly as possible.

Training is probably just as important, as most of the players you may recruit won't be highly skilled,fully trained pvpers who know everything they are supposed to know.

I know that the best way to practice is to just play pvp,scrimmage and such.

But does anyone have any hints,suggestions and advice to make the road from newbish PvP play to good,solid, professional play that much easier.

We have whole divisions (guilds) dedicated to training novice GvG and HA folks. We do a lot of in game practice (so running lots of GvGs and HAs each day) and also have some basic education sessions as well. The real key in my book is having experienced and patient folks willing to put up with new recruits making a lot of mistakes. Most folks can't do that for very long and either they or the recruits get frustrated and give up.

yes i know what you mean Billiard, My leader and I have been trying to train some new members, like take them into observer mode to view tactics and show them how specfic builds need to be run, take them into scimmages as well as run in TA. I personally have tried to create builds that will help a team focus on their communication,Co-ordination and team work.

But ye frustration does quickly seep in, especially if both the teacher and the learner are getting fed up with it. As training and self analysis does seem a grind and can be quite dis-heartening at times.

I just need advice as to how to make the learning curve alot easier or if not more fun for the recipients.

What I would love to see in GW would be scrim bots, uber hard NPC's or compter controlled characters with insane AI that you can go up against, like in other games you can put the difficulty of the bots so high that going up against them would be harder than playing against real people. But i suppose that would be a silly idea, with too many factors to take into account and would just end up as hard work.

The quickest road to becoming a good GvG guild is to get a core established as soon as possible.

Get 10-12 people to start with, who all share the same dedication. Make sure everyone has a role on the team. Decide who's going to be your warriors, who will be your monks, your flagger, and who's going to be in the midline. Once you have your specific build and everyone know's exactly what they're playing, just start observing high level matches. Get on vent with a few guys, and observe different guilds. See what they did good, what they should have done, and most importantly why they lost. Obviously this is not that their guild lord died, but why they got pressured into the base in the first place and what they should have done to mitigate the pressure. Also have your people specifically watch people playing the class they're going to play. Particularly if you can get a chance to watch someone who's notoriously good at what they do, such as Tommy from QQ for a monk. You can also PM them for advice, don't be afraid to. They're normally pretty cool about it, provided they're not busy and you don't ask too stupid questions.

a lil out of topic but is there any 1 who would provide training service?my guild was a pve guild..moving on to pvp..n yea..we can barely invite any 1 as ppl want rank guilds..but i myself n 2 dedicated mates dont have the experience in gvg tat much...so iwas thinking of recruiting a person to take lead of the GVG side..but till now fail to find some 1

a core team is the key to a successful gvg guild, everything just comes with experience.

Honestly, if you can get into a guild who puts forth an effort to pvp on a regular basis, your already in the top 2k guilds because effort is being put forth on all levels.
I can say that recruitment of new guys is difficult since my first recruitment into a guild was none less than a dissapointment 3 weeks later when getting kicked for not being on for 3 days, work related issues at that point. They were on the top 500 and thought that any inactivity was a weakness. But learning from this guild taught me many core values to the game.
Many Guilds now require a certain amount of "Balthazaar Points" to join, but isn't this an overstatement because couldn't the individual of unlocked the skills in PvE. Granted they may want purely PvP skill but at least they know and understand the skills which isnt that what they are looking for? Because everyone has to learn their new builds It shouldn't matter whether or not they have enough faction or PvE experience.

Faction is only another indication to help a guild decide whether or not the applicant is worthy of being tried out. Probably the biggest factor though is previous guilds. That's usually the first section I go for when looking at an application.

yeh all these are great points get your guildees to watch tactics and to watch their best proff...then later talk about what the team did and what they didnt do. Now im not saying mimic the build exactly but im saying note the positionings and note how often they casts skills and who they casts the skills at. try and work out what build their using like two mesmers caasting e surge u can guess that it is a dual surge.

also watch how they cap the flag,cuz this is very important in gvg's. I suggests u take some of your core members and take them on a run around every single guild hall in the game just so u can get used to them if u play on them.

if ur training ppl jsut remember to have plenty of gvg's and have a guild u can trust to scrim once and a while, try and make builds that work, use voice communication, trust in yoru monks adn most of all have fun.
