I finished the game yesterday, and now I want to do some missions and quests on the starter island, however I can't get any mission from any NPC. They simply say odd things and don't give me quests or missions.
Here is what the main mission givers say:

Also, the guy for the master quest at the ruins (in Cliffs of Dohjok) isn't talking to me at all. I cannot join a group to get the quest either, the quest completes for my companions but not for me.
And, what's even worse, none of the sunspear scouts and priests anywhere in the game offer me their blessings to get more sunspear promotion points, although I can get Lightbringer points from some NPCs near the end of the game.
Character is Tyria-born.

Apparently, if you reach rank 8 Sunspear, you don't get blessings anymore. Not sure if this is intentional.

Hmm ok. I still need the missions though for the protector of Elona title.

I have this issue as well. I can't seem to get missions 2 and 3 to allow me to do them. Tyrian character. I've looked everywhere for any way to trigger them to talk to me, but can't find anything.

Yup, I reached Castellen (8) yesterday and haven't been able to get any blessings since.

You need to do all of the Island missions in order as if you were a new character. This means you have to do the first mission which is at the village right after the training for a new character. To get here go into the Fields in the back near the Command Post Training and talk with the Historian, he will take you into the Village and you can then do the first mission.

this may sound a stupid question but have you done churnir fields mission? it can be accessed with a furriner by going to the s end of the exploreable area and talking to an npc. Just a thought as to why you'd not be able to access it and may not apply. (havent personally gone back to island yet since I am still a ways from endgame - I may do it now though while I still can heh)

I have found the problem, accidentally.
Apparently it is possible to get into Elona without finishing the quest "Sunspears in Kryta"; I decided to go back to Tyria to do some mapping and happened to notice Lionguard Figo had an exclamation point above his head still; I had never finished my quest, as someone had warped us to Elona without my talking to Kormir.
Redoing the quest "Sunspears of Kryta" I got the quest completed, at which point I could access Jokanur.
